(More customer reviews)I purchased one of the Brinkmann Halogen/L.E.D. hand held spotlights,and it has been the best spotlight i have ever had,it is very simple to operate,and quick to get a full charge,and i am very impressed by the length of run time on one charge,the lower power flashlight on the bottom of the light is a very handy little light, when you do not need the full power of the halogen spotlight,you just click the button on the back of the light and you go from spotlight,to flashlight in a blink of an eye,and the range of the spotlight is very impressive too,I would recommend the Brinkmann Halogen/L.E.D. Rechargeable Spotlight to anyone who is looking for a good quality spotlight for home or hunting use,i do not usually give a five star rating on many things,but this light has earned every star it gets for the price it is being sold for and the quality of light it throws out,this light is going to be very hard to top as far as other spotlights are concerned,I look forward to purchasing more for my brothers,i think they would make the perfect Christmas or Birthday presents. I just bought three Fenix flashlights, including a TK11, and it is the one I regret.It was meant to replace my 1998 Surefire 6P with Cree drop-in.I narrowed my choices down to the TK10 and TK11 and so I asked someone "which I should get between the two."He suggested I get the TK11 since it could take the 18650 battery.Okay, so that's what I did.

When I got it in my hands and had some time to play with it, I realized all the things I didn't like about it, the TK10 didn't have.First off, I don't really care for the ring used for the cigar hold and it catches on things, although I am getting used to it.I know it just comes off, but unlike the TK10, there is no replacement band to prevent damage to the treads or getting crud on the O-ring.Perhaps not a big deal, but I intend to use it in the field alot and it is subject to drops in the wilderness.

Next, I think I am disappointed in the beam artifacts.I am not such a picky dude, but it does not seem as nice as my Cree drop-in for the 6p.Okay, again not a big deal.The TK10 is said to have a different reflector which has a nicer beam.I'll have to perhaps just let that one go.

Then, there is the cooling fins.Like the ring, they catch on stuff like the case and I bet if I drop it in the mud, it's gonna be hard to clean, most irritating.And they look ugly to me.The TK10 does not have them.

I did not think getting a supply of 18650 batteries would be so difficult here since several of my co-workers have them, but when I try, it's really a pain in the butt.As it turns out, [...], which I don't plan to do, so the 18650 feature is not so beneficial to me.

Oh, and at the time I bought the TK11, the TK10 was nine dollars less.

Overall, the TK11 is a solid and good flashlight, I just wish I had bought the TK10 instead.

(More customer reviews)Bought this light after much searching and comparing amongst other LED rechargeables.I must say that I am very pleased.The flashlight is extremely bright - certainly more than enough for my round-the-house, round-the-car needs.It is also lite and quite sturdy.Charge quality is very good.I let it charge overnight once and it is still going strong after several months of occasional household use with no noticable drop in brightness.The flashlight comes with two chargers, one for the car and one for the house.Both plug into a small headphone jack-sized port.This port is hidden under an aluminum collar just below the activation switch.This collar can be unscrewed, moving about an inch down the body of the light, revealing the receptacle.From there, you plug and are good to go.I am already pondering a second one of these for the upstairs - maybe another for the car.For the price I am not sure you can do much better.

Streamlight 75713 Stinger Led Rechargeable Flashlight Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this flashlight for law enforcement duty; within a week of when I started using it, the rubber power button fell off the flashlight. I was lucky enough to find it in a parking lot, and I replaced it, but within two more days of use, the button vanished again, this time for good. I've spoken to at least two other people with similar problems using this model of flashlight.

Streamlight so far has been completely unresponsive to my requests for customer support, neither returning my voice mails nor my e-mails. It's an impressive flashlight that casts a good beam, but for the one moving part to fail twice within the first two weeks of use is unacceptable. Even more unacceptable is their refusal to communicate with their customers. This flashlight is simply too expensive for poor customer service. I've already decided that when I buy a tactical light for my pistol, it won't be a model made by Streamlight.

Energizer 3 LED Headlight Review

(More customer reviews) I love the fact that this uses LEDs and common (AAA) batteries. This is very bright - plenty of light for anything I might want to do. The fact that it has a Red LED, to preserve night vision, is icing on the cake. I ordered one the first time around, then went back and ordered several more to be used as gifts. (My nephew is going to love it!)

Update: Subtract 1 star because I found it turned on in the pocket of my backpack. (It appears that the slider switch moves a bit too easily. I may try something like a rubber band wrapped around the light to try to keep the switch from moving.)

On the other hand, add back 1/2 star due to the fact that the light swivels up and down so you can direct the light where you need it.

Still comes out at 4.5 stars for me.

It is not a solar flashlight joke anymore. This light has a built-in battery and can be used even without the sun :)

Pros:
- BRIGHT! 3 super bright LEDs.
- No battery to replace. Utilizes solar panels.
- Very light weight.
- Nice look. The color black makes it look like not a cheap toy.
- Some tiny LED lights has a switch that need to be hold all the time to stay lit.This flashlight has a stay-on / stay-off switch.

Cons:
- You wish the charge to last a bit longer.The light diminishes output after 5 minutes.Good enough for a short emergency use like fumbling for your keys, looking where the door knob is...

(More customer reviews)I come from a family of peace officers and firefighters and I've known the brand Streamlight as far back as I can remember.These lights are tough, durable and more importantly BRIGHT!My brother who is in police academy told me that his instructor requested the students to purchase this particular flashlight because of the strobe feature, which can be used for tactical entry as well as a temporary defense. (The experience of encountering a bright strobing light can cause dizziness and even nausea in some people.)At any rate, I purchased this light from Amazon.com and liked it so well that I decided to get one for myself.After some shopping around I did find this item at a local store (a plumbing supply company of all places) for $95 which only included one charger.Not a problem.

When the light is turned on it by default uses high intensity.If you keep the power button depressed, in about one second the intensity of the beam will start to decrease to "medium" and a "low" intensity.The strobe function is activated when the power button is rapidly pressed twice.Streamlight does offer a power button located on the "[...]" of the flashlight for power access for "over-handed" use, and is an optional feature.

The battery is considered fully charged after being charged for 12-14 hours...so it takes a while; however, the battery memory is not altered if the battery is not completely discharged regularly.This means that the life span of the battery charge is not diminished if the light sits in the charger for weeks at a time.I consider this a HUGE PLUS!

So, if you're on the fence about purchasing this flashlight, I can honestly say that you will not be disappointed in the performance of this Polystinger.I'm seriously considering getting another one for the car.

**And if you do decide to go with this unit, whatever you do, DO NOT LOOK INTO THE FLASHLIGHT while it is on!!! it is VERY bright!

CygoLite TridenX 600 LED Li-Ion Xtra: Triple LED Bike Light with 5-hour Li-Ion Battery Review

(More customer reviews)I have typically done all of my winter riding in the mornings, so I've never needed a light strong enough for me to really see by. After all, the sun would be up soon enough, so I just needed the little extra protection from sleepy drivers that was provided by my "flasher" style bike light. However, a few months ago, I started riding in the evenings a couple of times a week with a reasonably fast (18 - 20+ mph) recreational group out of a local bike shop. Time to look for a bike that I could actually use to navigate the streets by.

The first light I tried was a Niterider Tri-Newt that was on closeout. That was a great light...when it worked. The cable that connected the lamp housing to the battery would never seat very snugly, so the slightest jostling meant that I would lose my light (no electricity, no light - obviously). I tried a number of different mounting locations for the battery and a number of different ways of trying to ensure that the cable stayed attached. Nothing worked for an entire ride, so it went back to the retailer.

I checked some gear reviews at a cycling website, and it looked like the MityCross product from Cygolite was well-liked, so I decided to try the TridenX next. I'm done. This is my light for the next while until it dies. The battery claims seven hours on high, and I believe it. After my Tuesday night rideand its two hours of riding plus an hour or so of transition (getting to the shop, waiting for the group to assemble, riding home), I decided that I would leave the battery strapped to the bike and go out on Thursday without a recharge. It handled the task like a champ. After the end of the second ride, the battery indicator was still showing more than an hour left on the battery. Granted its still a new battery, but this was definitely a mark in its favor.

As for slinging lumens, nothing is perfect. You want most of the light concentrated ahead of you, but still with good lighting in the periphery. I personally think this is tough to do for a single light with sufficient light output to really see by. However, the TridenX was easily the equal or better to the TriNewt in this respect. It doesn't turn day into night, but even the ultra expensive bike lights don't do that. Mountain bikers who ride at night through twisty singletrack will still want a second or third light (helmet plus peripheral), but roadies like me can easily get by at fairly decent speeds with just this one light on the front.

Having used it for a month now, there are a few nits to pick, but nothing I'd hold against it from the overall rating:
1) Since the unit has three LEDs, I'd like to have the ability to set one of them to "flash", leaving the other two on.
2) Getting the unit into flash mode is harder than it needs to be. One of the top buttons should be for flash and one for full-on.
3) I'd like to have a second mounting kit in the box. I think that many people who buy a light at this price point are going to move it from bike to bike, so a second mounting kit would be a nice, thoughtful touch. These are available separately, though, so no complaints.

Beyond that, I don't have any issues with the light. Here is what I think it does well:
1) Light output and balance between spot and flood beam patterns. It's very well balanced from a roadie's perspective.
2) Light output. I haven't mentioned that one of my riding companions thought I was a motorcycle the first time I rode up to the group with it on. That's a big compliment.
3) Mounting. I'm not sure about the user who had mounting issues (maybe the light wasn't pushed into the mount until it snapped?). My light mounts very securely on both my road bike and my mountain bike.
4) Size. For all that it is a seven hour battery, the battery itself is generally compact and easy to strap onto the bike that doesn't interfere with something else (e.g., water bottle, brake/derailleur cables).

Highly recommended.

(More customer reviews)I was looking for something to replace the cigarette lighters in my car.I don't smoke, so they serve no purpose.I even considered buying plastic caps from the dealer at fifteen dollars each.

Imagine my surprise when I came across this little beauty.The body is machined out of solid stainless steel, even the cap.Very high-end appearance, heft, and feel in the hand.

When placed in a cigarette lighter, it looks like it came from the factory that way. It replaces the existing lighter, and is inserted with the lens facing outward, away from the socket.

It is exactly the same diameter as the original lighters that came in my Lexus, and is low-profile enough to fit inside the closed ashtray.It does come with a metal ring that fits around it to make it a bit thicker for outlets that are larger, but that wasn't necessary for my application.

The cap twists to turn the light on or off, which keeps it from activating accidentally, but does require two hands. There are small holes drilled in a ring around the cap to allow light from the LED to show from the sides. It has a blue LED in it that lights softly when it is charging, and the small holes allow it to be easily seen from the sides.This works well for locating the light in a dark cabin.

The main LED is a white Nichia.They have a patented technology that makes the wire grid that covers the base of the LED clear, which allows up to twice the light output of a standard white LED.Note, however, that this is not a Luxeon or Cree LED, which are extraordinarily bright, but also use lots of current and would quickly drain the small battery in a device this size. The Photon Freedom Micro light also uses a Nichia LED, so that may give you a better idea of how bright it is if you are familiar with that one.

The lens is convex, like a magnifying glass, so the beam is bright, round, and has very little side spill.This is good for tasks that you might use it for in a car, like reading a map without lighting up the entire interior of the car and blinding the driver.

It is rechargeable, and according to the included instructions can be left in the outlet when not in use.

Mine just arrived today, and I've already ordered another one.Highly recommended.

Energizer Weather Ready LED Spot Area Light Review

(More customer reviews)Obviously, there are better, more powerful flashlights, but at this price (and I've seen them sold for less), I think this is a fine tool to have for the most common reasons that people need a flashlight (temporary loss of power). While the LED is not particularly bright, it's bright enough to get around a dark house, and the CFL light is good as an area light or for reading. In most emergencies, I'd rather have two or three of these rather than put my money in a single expensive flashlight that throws a beam half-a-mile.

This little light is super bright almost as bright as my Stanley 1 Million candle power light. This is probley the most prower full LED light on the market. Nothing comes close. I t produces a really nice blue/white light. The dimmer is also really handy and works great and really like this light. :)

Black Diamond Orbit Lantern Review

(More customer reviews)LED's are simply amazing and they have caused nothing short of a revolution in the lighting sector. Just go to any lighting store on the internet and browse some of the new LED lights and you will quickly understand what I mean by revolution. Some of the lights now available are just downright amazing. Lighting has never been this much fun. While LED lights for camping aren't quite as exciting or revolutionary as some of the stuff being introduced in the home lines, its still worthy of excitement especially for people that are used to old school candle lanterns.

Black Diamond released 2 different versions for thier portable lantern line, the Apollo and the Orbit. While IMO the Apollo is definitely the better of the 2, the Orbit still has its advantages and I still highly recommend it. I actually own 3 of both models as I use them for emergency lighting in my house and not just for camping.

Overall the biggest difference between the 2 is the overall size and light output. The Orbit is roughly half the size of the Apollo and it only has a 1 watt light as opposed to the 3 watt light in the Apollo. The Orbit is actually perfect for 2 man tents or if your going solo in a 1 man tent. I have even used an orbit in a bivy sack for reading. If your going to be in a 3 person or 4 person tent then you definitely want to move up to the Apollo. Another big difference is that the Orbit doesn't have any legs. It has the same slide up frosted top, it just doesn't have the 3 fold down legs that the Apollo has. Overall this effects the stability of the lantern the most. Its still very stable even without the legs, its just not as stable as the Apollo. If you usually hang your lanterns then this is a non issue.

The Orbit is a 1 watt light which can achieve a light intensity of 45 lumens. It weighs 4.5 ounces, sits at 4 inches closed and extends to 5.5" when open. It takes 4 AAA batteries or you can purchase the NRG rechargeable battery kit which I HIGHLY recommend. Like the Apollo the Orbit has a dimmer switch to provide adjustable brightness which can really help save battery power when you don't need the full brightness setting. It has a metal ring on the top which makes hanging it extremely easy. The design, with its frosted globe and dual reflectors, eliminates any sort of glare even when your looking right at it. Last but not least it comes in 2 different colors, white or black.

The Orbit actually just recently won a 2009 Backpacker Magazine's Editor's Choice Award! This is no small feat as backpacker magazine does extensive testing on equipment and only the best of the best gets a nomination yet alone actually winning an award. Backpacker magazine is one of the most respected outdoors magazines and the people that do the testing know what they are talking about. In all honesty this award by itself should tell you all you need to know about the quality of this light.

As I stated in my Apollo review, these lights can be used for more than just camping. I purchased 3 of the Apollo and 3 of the Orbit lights to use as emergency lighting in our house. We usually lose power in our house at least 2-3 times a year, usually due to storms knocking out the power. These lanterns are absolutely perfect for such occasions and are much safer than candles. We use the orbits to light up our main hallways and use the Apollo's for our main rooms and bedrooms. We have already had to use them twice for such occasions and they were vastly superior to what we have used in the past.

Bottom line - these are outstanding lights. They are designed extremely well, put out plenty of light, are lightweight and are easy to carry around. The optional rechargeable battery is a huge plus as I for one HATE wasting money on batteries. IMO, both the Apollo and the Orbit are the best camping lights on the market.
