Weighing 12.8 ounces, the Streamlight Stinger DS LED Flashlight is 8.85 inches long, 1.17 inches in diameter at the body, and 1.62 inches in diameter at the head. The Stinger DS features three brightness levels: producing 180 lumens of light for two hours at the highest brightness, 95 lumens for three hours and 45 minutes at the medium brightness, and 45 lumens for seven hours and 15 minutes at the low brightness. The strobe function has a run time of up to five hours and 30 minutes.
The rechargeable three-cell, 3.6-volt sub-C nickel-cadmium battery (included) saves you time and money and can be recharged up to 1,000 times (charger included). It will steady charge in ten hours, or in two and a half hours on an optional fast, or PiggyBack, charger.

Intova Wide Angle Torch Flashlight Review

(More customer reviews)I've been diving since '93 and have had a fair number of lights over the years.I still love my big old UK1200 but it's a monster with 8 D Cells and I wanted a really good small backup light that could be kept with me all the time.

So I bought one of these and was astonished at how good it is.And so immediately bought a 2nd.We just got back from 8 days in Bonaire and I kept one with me during day dives, where it came in very handy for looking under ledges below about 40-50'.And I used both of them, one in each hand, for night dives.

Other lights have a "hot spot", and then a "halo" around that.This Intova Wide Angle has a single very wide hot spot.There is no discernible difference between the center and edges - it is simply one BIG hot spot.Quite bright and clear.If you have 2 of them, then you can pan them back and forth and bathe a very impressive swath of reef.If you want "more light" then simply overlap the two beams and VOILA - you get nearly double the output.So for $110 - get two of these and you will be very happy indeed.

The batteries last a good long time.Intova claims something like 8 hours or more.I'd say from my experience that you can get a good 5-6 hours, and they get dimmer after that.

Replacement batteries do not need to be all that expensive - just do a search on any major engine for CR-123 or CR-123a and you'll find these for about $1 per battery (2 needed) - so get a bunch and you're set - they are lithium and should really last.

Everything that you want to see from 1-15 feet - these are ideal.They do NOT have the penetrating power of a "true primary light" but that's ok by me since I'm highly focused on everything within 15', and usually 10' or less, at night.

I would say that these are the BEST 2ndary light ever, hands-down.But, I made very good use of them as a pair for my primary, and let one of our group borrow my monster UK1200.

I had considered getting Intova's high-end 3 LED primary but for $250, it didn't make sense, especially when I can just hold these 2 together and double-up my output whenever I like.

Bottom line - GET one, or better yet get two.

(More customer reviews)I come from a family of peace officers and firefighters and I've known the brand Streamlight as far back as I can remember.These lights are tough, durable and more importantly BRIGHT!My brother who is in police academy told me that his instructor requested the students to purchase this particular flashlight because of the strobe feature, which can be used for tactical entry as well as a temporary defense. (The experience of encountering a bright strobing light can cause dizziness and even nausea in some people.)At any rate, I purchased this light from Amazon.com and liked it so well that I decided to get one for myself.After some shopping around I did find this item at a local store (a plumbing supply company of all places) for $95 which only included one charger.Not a problem.

When the light is turned on it by default uses high intensity.If you keep the power button depressed, in about one second the intensity of the beam will start to decrease to "medium" and a "low" intensity.The strobe function is activated when the power button is rapidly pressed twice.Streamlight does offer a power button located on the "[...]" of the flashlight for power access for "over-handed" use, and is an optional feature.

The battery is considered fully charged after being charged for 12-14 hours...so it takes a while; however, the battery memory is not altered if the battery is not completely discharged regularly.This means that the life span of the battery charge is not diminished if the light sits in the charger for weeks at a time.I consider this a HUGE PLUS!

So, if you're on the fence about purchasing this flashlight, I can honestly say that you will not be disappointed in the performance of this Polystinger.I'm seriously considering getting another one for the car.

**And if you do decide to go with this unit, whatever you do, DO NOT LOOK INTO THE FLASHLIGHT while it is on!!! it is VERY bright!

Streamlight Strion Rechargeable Xenon Flashlight without Charger Review

(More customer reviews)I have owned all sorts of flashlights, from the most expensive Surefires, to Streamlights, to Mag and other products and I must say this is truly an outstanding light!The finish is not the same as a Surefire Hard Anodized finish, but it seems to put out the same intensity of light as my Surefire M3Turbo which sells for 2-3 times the cost.The Surefire M3T has seemingly the same intensity but about twice the illumination area as the Strion.I have been so impressed with Surefires that I have owned 10-15 and I still think light for light they're the absolute best.I don't think this Streamlight will compare with the construction standards of a Surefire, but if it comes down to shear light output and the integrity of illumination, this Strion is so good I'm starting to rethink getting another Surefire.(I have quite a few anyway).

Recharging seems to be done in just a few minutes...I can't imagine how much I can save over constantly replacing CR123 batteries at $1.75 each, not to mention how sparingly I've used such lights in the past without wishing to replace batteries.Having a light pattern similar to the Surefire is nice, and having a replacement bulb provided in the tail cap and a cost of about $5.00 to replace the bulb compared to the assembly sold by Surefire has turned my head.

I also have and have used Liteboxes and Vulcans both as a long time owner of these and while serving as a fireman.The Streamlight Survivor (earlier style) was my favorite light, but the Strion reminds me of the light pattern without the size of the Survivor. I recently purchased a Fire Vulcan and was very disappointed in the light pattern with a large area of darkness surrounded by a ring of light.I was searching for a person recently and was so disappointed by the light pattern of the Vulcan that I went back to my vehicle and retrieved my Surefire M3T.If I had the Strion I would have opted for that light instead as I wouldn't eat up the batteries.I also recently purchased as Streamlite Litebox, as I had one of the earlier models with the sealed beam.The newer model has a small replacable lamp and I'm afraid it will have the same light pattern as the Vulcan.Still for a good long-lasting light you can't beat either of these lanterns.All of the Liteboxes, Survivors and Vulcans will take the heat and abuse of being on a fire scene and I think my Survivor went into a training exercise with me where the temp was around 650 degrees.The construction standards are excellent, but the light pattern with these have as of late been disappointing.

The Stiron is everything you would want in a light.It's very very powerful, more so than the G2, 6P, and E2E Surefires, but it doesn't have the construction standards the Surefires have as they're truly the best in construction.The Strion doesn't seem to have the same construction standards, but I'm noticing I'm using the Strion more and more and the Surefires less and less.

(More customer reviews)The Stinger is a great rechargeable light. It's small yet provides a bright amount of light for about an hour. With the adjustable lens, you can choose a floodlight or spotlight.
The Stinger comes with two charging cradles and an AC cord and DC cord so you can have one in your car and one at home. Therefore you can always have your Stinger charging to be used whenever you need it. The extra bulb in the tailcap is also nice.
+'s: small, bright, fits easy in your hands, adjustable beam, 1 hour run time, you can charge the battery without taking it out of the flashlight, charging cradles allow you to place the flashlight from the top or "snapped" in from the front.
-'s: long charge time unless you buy the "fast" charger.
If you need to constantly use a flashlight that is small but powerful (security guard, handyman, plumber), the Stinger will not disappoint you. The rechargeable battery will save you money in the long run.
Although expensive, it is good quality and I would buy this flashlight again. For a brighter light, check out the Stinger HP which is rated almost 3 times as bright.
