(More customer reviews)I purchased one of the Brinkmann Halogen/L.E.D. hand held spotlights,and it has been the best spotlight i have ever had,it is very simple to operate,and quick to get a full charge,and i am very impressed by the length of run time on one charge,the lower power flashlight on the bottom of the light is a very handy little light, when you do not need the full power of the halogen spotlight,you just click the button on the back of the light and you go from spotlight,to flashlight in a blink of an eye,and the range of the spotlight is very impressive too,I would recommend the Brinkmann Halogen/L.E.D. (More customer reviews)I bought this for my mother initially after a storm knocked out the power and we had tornados in the area. She had neither a battery-powered radio nor a functional weather radio (her house has a large hill blocking all the National Weather Service signals from reaching her).

It is rather nice in that it includes a lot of features that are handy.

1. It has a plug for a cellphone charger. At least at this time, you can order a charger plug for many different cellphones directly from the website and just pay shipping (around $5) so that you can charge your cellphone off of the hand crank. Very good idea.
2. There is an LED flashlight on the front and an LED area light that flips up from the side. These are not going to blind anyone, but they will adequately light up a room or help you navigate through a dark house.
3. The FM/AM/Weather radio is functional and adequate for the intended purpose.
4. It has a build-in clock and alarm. Unfortunately, the alarm on/off button is located on the top of the unit and will easily get bumped such that you are turning on/off the alarm accidentally any time you reach for the device.
5. It includes the rechargeable battery in the package, and it will also run off of regular batteries. The hand crank can be used to charge the rechargeable battery or you can charge from a wall plug, also included.
6. It is not a heavy device and would be very easy to carry around. It does have an included carry handle that flips up from the side opposite the lamp. Unfortunately, it's not that robustly built, either, and wouldn't survive a lot of abuse.
7. There is a built-in hazard alarm/light, but it's of dubious usefulness. As mentioned above, the flashlight is not very strong (though adequate for a flashlight), but it is flashed on-and-off with the alarm and likely wouldn't be spotted all that far away unless in pitch black darkness. It also plays an alarm noise over the built-in radio speaker, but again, the speaker isn't very loud. You could easily talk over this and carry on a conversation without yelling with this alarm going off. You'd be better off just yelling.

Overall, this a great emergency utility that should be in anyone's kit at home or in the car trunk. The hand crank can help make up for not having fresh batteries in or having forgotten to charge it with the wall plug.I'm so impressed with this unit overall that I'm investigating Life Gear's other devices. This is great for Tornado Alley residents, coastal folks who are subject to hurricanes, earthquakes, or even blizzards. I can't think of any natural disaster this wouldn't be at least somewhat helpful in.

I tried calling Cyclops and their Customer Service number was busy 24/7 for three days straight! I ended up sending them an email. Another week went by and no response; I wrote them again. Still nothing.... bottom line is the spotlight worked great but if you need replacement parts like a battery or bulb forget it.

(More customer reviews)I have likely the prior model of this, which doesn't have the 3AAA battery feature.Purchased sometime in 2005 or 2006, and first used in Hurricane Ike in 2008 in citywide blackout.

The crank-power requires a lot of cranking, and the light shuts off rapidly. Very good white light.Radio is mediocre, as I was able to receive better reception using my high quality tiny radio.

Compass was worthless.And cell adapter requires a shipping charge(with shipping charges involved).

I'm going to keep this in my car, so I don't have to change batteries often.

(More customer reviews)Well, let me say, first of all, that this is a nicely built flashlight.It feels pretty good in the hand and doesn't look shabby in the least.That said, Freeplay has greatly exaggerated the shine time of this unit.With a full charge from the AC wall charger the longest duration of light on high power I could get was a bit less than fifteen minutes...far short of the two and a half hours they state.I returned the first Jonta I bought, thinking I had received a lemon.When the replacement arrived, however, the problem was actually a bit worse.This time I decided to take matters into my own hands and replaced the lousy stock 1300mAh NiMH pack with one rated at 2700mAh.Having done this, I now get the shine duration that Freeplay states this unit delivers out-of-box. I paid $45.99 for my Jonta.Had I paid full price, I would have been really torqued off.This experience has led me to believe that this will be the last Freeplay product I buy.I also have a Lifeline radio as well as a Baygen radio.They work fine.It is my opinion that the problem with Freeplay is that they do not seem to offer any support in the way of replacement parts for their products.For a company that advertises itself as being environmentally friendly, I find this unacceptable.

(More customer reviews)First, for those who have had an issue charging the light and got the flashing blue light when on the charger, the problem is most likely a bad electrical connection.Unscrew the battery end and clean the silver colored, unanodized, end of the cap to remove any grease that is hindering an electrical connection.The cap is part of the electrical system and any grease between the cap and the body of the light will mess with the connection.Also, clean the charging contacts on the light with a pencil eraser (just rub it like you are erasing)...This will clean off any gunk that could be messing with the connection.I've had charging issues and this is all it takes to correct them.

With all that said, I love this light.Constant output for 2 hours, unlike Mag and Streamligh lights that dim after a few minutes and continued to yellow out.This is a pure while light, with no artifacts in the beam....meaning its a nice even illumination tool.It's not cheap, but you are paying for quality.I have used mine for about 6 months, in rain, fog, complete darkness, indoors, outdoors.....and it just performs without question.You can not go wrong with it.

Lastly, if you are going to buy the T4, buy the new version that Inova is releasing this spring of '08.The output went up from 125 lumens to 175 lumens.....for those not familiar with light ratings, it is one heck of an increase!Try it and you will not be disappointed.

The manual does not go into enough depth on a few items, but a quick phone call to Technical Services answered all my questions. The Technician was VERY courteous and intelligent It also comes with a power cable (Well built) that can be plugged into a cigarette lighter in a vehicle. This bypasses the internal SLA battery and powers the light 100% by the vehicle. I think the price is appropriate considering the super unit that it is.

I like the hex-shaped sections, they keep it from rolling around, and I like the fact that it will stand or hang.It casts a broad light for work areas.The switch has an old-fashioned, quality feel to it.Positive action, no slop.Uncommonly good quality in this day and age!

Fenix TK11 Q5 LED Flashlight Black Aluminum Body Review

(More customer reviews)My short answer is if you don't have a need to use the 18650 battery, then get the TK10.

I just bought three Fenix flashlights, including a TK11, and it is the one I regret.It was meant to replace my 1998 Surefire 6P with Cree drop-in.I narrowed my choices down to the TK10 and TK11 and so I asked someone "which I should get between the two."He suggested I get the TK11 since it could take the 18650 battery.Okay, so that's what I did.

When I got it in my hands and had some time to play with it, I realized all the things I didn't like about it, the TK10 didn't have.First off, I don't really care for the ring used for the cigar hold and it catches on things, although I am getting used to it.I know it just comes off, but unlike the TK10, there is no replacement band to prevent damage to the treads or getting crud on the O-ring.Perhaps not a big deal, but I intend to use it in the field alot and it is subject to drops in the wilderness.

Next, I think I am disappointed in the beam artifacts.I am not such a picky dude, but it does not seem as nice as my Cree drop-in for the 6p.Okay, again not a big deal.The TK10 is said to have a different reflector which has a nicer beam.I'll have to perhaps just let that one go.

Then, there is the cooling fins.Like the ring, they catch on stuff like the case and I bet if I drop it in the mud, it's gonna be hard to clean, most irritating.And they look ugly to me.The TK10 does not have them.

I did not think getting a supply of 18650 batteries would be so difficult here since several of my co-workers have them, but when I try, it's really a pain in the butt.As it turns out, [...], which I don't plan to do, so the 18650 feature is not so beneficial to me.

Oh, and at the time I bought the TK11, the TK10 was nine dollars less.

Overall, the TK11 is a solid and good flashlight, I just wish I had bought the TK10 instead.

For example-fixing a leaky pipe in a bathroom or kitchen cabinet: the legs are quite flexible and can be wrapped around a pipe and aimed at the problem area; the light is bright and steady.Have you ever had someone trying to be "helpful" by holding a flashlight for you? This light eliminates the frustration to both parties involved...No, a little more to the left..no, now it's in my eyes!..etc. Also great for working on your car. It is rechargeable, has a high/low option, plus a flashing mode. The built-in magnet is fairly small, but strong, a larger magnet would be an improvement. You cannot go wrong by adding this light to your toolkit.

(More customer reviews)Bought this light after much searching and comparing amongst other LED rechargeables.I must say that I am very pleased.The flashlight is extremely bright - certainly more than enough for my round-the-house, round-the-car needs.It is also lite and quite sturdy.Charge quality is very good.I let it charge overnight once and it is still going strong after several months of occasional household use with no noticable drop in brightness.The flashlight comes with two chargers, one for the car and one for the house.Both plug into a small headphone jack-sized port.This port is hidden under an aluminum collar just below the activation switch.This collar can be unscrewed, moving about an inch down the body of the light, revealing the receptacle.From there, you plug and are good to go.I am already pondering a second one of these for the upstairs - maybe another for the car.For the price I am not sure you can do much better.
