Has been under my car, in my camper, in the basement, the attic, and more.I have dropped it, banged it, and misused it and it keeps working.Light is nice and bright, too. I like the hex-shaped sections, they keep it from rolling around, and I like the fact that it will stand or hang.It casts a broad light for work areas.The switch has an old-fashioned, quality feel to it.Positive action, no slop.Uncommonly good quality in this day and age!

Coast 7575 Rechargeable Flashlight Auto LED Review

(More customer reviews)I was looking for something to replace the cigarette lighters in my car.I don't smoke, so they serve no purpose.I even considered buying plastic caps from the dealer at fifteen dollars each.

Imagine my surprise when I came across this little beauty.The body is machined out of solid stainless steel, even the cap.Very high-end appearance, heft, and feel in the hand.

When placed in a cigarette lighter, it looks like it came from the factory that way. It replaces the existing lighter, and is inserted with the lens facing outward, away from the socket.

It is exactly the same diameter as the original lighters that came in my Lexus, and is low-profile enough to fit inside the closed ashtray.It does come with a metal ring that fits around it to make it a bit thicker for outlets that are larger, but that wasn't necessary for my application.

The cap twists to turn the light on or off, which keeps it from activating accidentally, but does require two hands. There are small holes drilled in a ring around the cap to allow light from the LED to show from the sides. It has a blue LED in it that lights softly when it is charging, and the small holes allow it to be easily seen from the sides.This works well for locating the light in a dark cabin.

The main LED is a white Nichia.They have a patented technology that makes the wire grid that covers the base of the LED clear, which allows up to twice the light output of a standard white LED.Note, however, that this is not a Luxeon or Cree LED, which are extraordinarily bright, but also use lots of current and would quickly drain the small battery in a device this size. The Photon Freedom Micro light also uses a Nichia LED, so that may give you a better idea of how bright it is if you are familiar with that one.

The lens is convex, like a magnifying glass, so the beam is bright, round, and has very little side spill.This is good for tasks that you might use it for in a car, like reading a map without lighting up the entire interior of the car and blinding the driver.

It is rechargeable, and according to the included instructions can be left in the outlet when not in use.

Mine just arrived today, and I've already ordered another one.Highly recommended.

American Hunter? 12V Multi-use Solar Charger Review

(More customer reviews)I ordered this item to use on my boat as a trickle charger for the 12v Battery.The item in the photo is in a plastic case and the photoappears to be the charger I have seen on other boats. That is why I placed the order. Unfortunately, I was shipped a different model in a metal casing -- which does not appear to be as weather proof. Rain and Saltwater appear to able to puddle and leak through seams in the corner. I doubt if the metal casing will be as corrosion resistant,durable, or as eco-friendly as the plastic unit pictured.

There were no instructions or specs provided for the unit. It is not clear how the mounting bracket should be installed.This unit may be fine indoors, in a car, or a dry environment.,but I doubt it will be found very durable in weather.

On the plus side,the unit appears to have more cell and may generate more amps than the unit photoed. Also, shipping was very, very, fast. Probably faster than anything I have ever ordered. In less than 4 days and it was at my front door.

(More customer reviews)I had this jumper battery for a few months and I didn't use it until now that my friend's Saturn Vue V6 engine was not starting. I connected the clamps to his battery and the car started immediately. The battery status on this unit has 3 lights (red-yellow-green) and is very useful to know when to recharge it. It was on yellow status but it still could start several cars with ease. The air compressor and the flash light on the unit are also very useful. A very handy equipment for the price (when I bought it, it was $80)
I would recommend it.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this product to check the charge level on a 98 Pontiac Bonneville and 2004 Chrysler Town and Country.I figured that since it is a computerized "smart" unit, that also measures outside ambient temperature, I would not have any trouble.Well, after dropping $44 at Advance Auto here is my experience.
Firstly, Reading Is Fundamental.For those born in the mid to late 60's you may remember the RIF campaign.When I took the first measurements with the unit it read "low charge".I ran the check three times for verification.I was about to go pick up some R134a when I notice something on the end of the blue quick connector tube.It read "push to engage".I went back to the low side service port and using my thumb....."Pushed to Engage".There was an audible "click" sound which confirmed you were solidly connected to the low side port.
Secondly, the blue hose could be another six to eight inches longer.If the low side service port is located low next to compressors, radiators, etc. you may have a hard time recharging the A/C per the instructions.The R134a can must be held as upright as possible when recharging A/C.Failure to do so can cause liquid refrigerant to drain into the smart-charge thus causing the trigger to stick.Depending upon where the low side port is located, you may have to get underneath the vehicle.
Thirdly, according to the unit, both vehicles are overcharged.It was close to 100 degrees Fahrenheit when I did the testing so I am not sure if that was a factor.The package information says the black center button is a Start/Calibrate button.I am not sure if the calibration is manual or automatic.Neither do the instructions state how to calibrate if it is deemed required.I am planning to borrow my neighbor's non-computerized dial unit to verify if both vehicles are overcharged.

(More customer reviews)The reasons that I bought this charger is because it has a docking stations which can be used to charge and store the unit when not in use. After the charging is completed, the docking station will enter a "floating charge" mode to prevent overcharging. Some other charger need to be monitored carefully since overcharging can damage the battery. With this unit, I can just leave it and forget it... Also, this unit is small enough that my wife can use it to jumpstart her minivan. Some other multifunction charger are so heavy, you'd have to be a weightlifter to carry the thing.

(More customer reviews)I bought this HD camera to replace a VholdR Wearable Camcorder (Black) which didn't survive getting run over by my SUV. The Hero is a well constructed camera, very solid feeling with quality construction.

Pros: The camera has four modes - video (in several resolutions), still pictures, self-timer still pictures, and interval photos (pictures every few seconds). The lens gives a tremendously wide wild view which is nice for HD's 9:16. It will shoot 1080p, 960p 720p (at 30 and 60 frames per second), and 480 (at 60 frames per second) line resolutions. It uses standard SDHC memory cards and has an internal battery which recharges via a USB cable. The recorded audio is very good both inside and outside of the motor sports waterproof case that came with my kit. Video is relatively good, not as vivid as a dedicated camcorder but the resolution is good. My kit came with a variety of mounts and a suction cup mount for windows and car body use. The waterproof case comes with two backs, one that is watertight and one that is not for better audio when waterproof use isn't required. The kit comes with connectors for connecting the camera up to an HDTV monitor (component video) or a TV monitor (composite video). A neat feature in the menu is that you can flip both the video and still photos so you can shoot with the camera upside down without a problem.

Cons: The quick release mounts have a bit of wiggle to them. The back of the waterproof case can be difficult to lock closed. The menu system is a bit troublesome to use as there are only two buttons and three LCD characters to use. Once set you'll not have to go into the menu very often.

Future: There's a connector on the rear that GoPro plans on using for an external battery or a monitor. Neither are available at the time of this review but they are being worked on.

In use on the trail the mounts worked very well. I used the suction cup primarily to mount the camera to my windshield, bumper, side body panel, and side window. Across rugged rocky trails the camera held firm and the video came out very well. The simple interface was easy enough to use. One button to turn the camera on and select the mode and another to stop and start the recording.

Solio Universal Hybrid Solar Charger Review

(More customer reviews)I reluctantly returned this product after a few weeks.It just does not charge in sunlight the way I expected it to.
Even the manual say it takes two days of sun to fully charge the battery.I placed it in a West facing window for a week and it never fully charged.Thecompany said the usual stuff.Window coating can diminish results, clouds, haze, etc.Plus the instructions say it has to be pointed right at the sun to charge correctly.So if you are driving West with the device on the front windshield it still won't charge correctly.You have to point it RIGHT at the sun.
I laid it on my deck.It was drenched in sun and still didn't get a good charge.
If you plug it into a wall outlet overnight then it will do a good job as a backup battery.But that isn't why I bought it.
Plus it doesn't work quite right with iPods.When you plug the iPod in and hit the start button on the Solio, the Solio will charge the iPod.But after a few hours it will quit charging and the iPod will run off the internal battery until you hit start on the Solio again.
Solio tech support said this is a known issue.
I guess I will try again in a few years.
Great idea, just not ready for prime time.

Razor Dirt Quad Electric Four-Wheeled Off-Road Vehicle (Red) Review

(More customer reviews)This is for everyone who gave this quad a bad review because the charge does not last more then five minutes or less. I purchased this dirt quad for my 8-year-old son and like some of you I was quite disappointed with the quad's charge longevity. The quad did not last five minutes before my son was wheeling it back into the garage for a charge, and it was brand new! At first I thought like the rest of you who experienced this same problem, "It was just an expensive piece of junk". But I noticed when the battery went dead and we put it on charge the light on the charger would go from red to green in just a few minutes, a lot less then the recommended charge time. So I figured maybe the charger was no good. Luckily we also own the Razor go-cart, which uses the same charger and always worked great. So I swapped out the chargers but the go-cart still charged fine. And the charger on the quad still turned from red to green in just a few minutes and still died out fast. So I went to Razor's website and contacted their customer support. They told me the problem sounded like a bad battery and explained that even though the quad is brand new it may have been sitting around in a warehouse for months, even years with the battery connected. If the battery goes a long time connected to the ATV and never on charge, the battery will eventually go bad. The battery should always stay on charge even when not used for long periods of time. They were right! They sent me a brand new battery free of charge, after I sent them a copy of my receipt proving I bought the quad within the warranty period, less then 90 days. As soon as we received the battery, I changed it out and all I can say is "what a change"! The quad is strong as can be and I could honestly say that even driving it up and down hills on rocky terrain the dirt quad lasts well past 30 minutes, about as long as my son lasts. And it still shows a full charge on the power indicator when he is done. It is like a completely different machine from the one we started out with. So to anyone here who thinks they got stuck with a piece of junk, go right to Razor before your 90 day warranty expires and file your complaint. They have an excellent customer service department and will contact you within 24 hours, you will not be sorry. I am very satisfied with Razor and even more satisfied every time I see my son's face now on his new dirt quad.

Vector 2/10/25 Amp Charger with 75 Amp Engine Start, Model# VEC1095A Review

(More customer reviews)I recently purchased this charger to recondition a moderately sulfated car battery.It was one of the few chargers I've been able to find that claim to have equalization and desulfation as features.

First, the equalization voltage does not appear to be high enough to equalize a lead-acid battery.In spite of leaving the charger running for several days now, the voltage has yet to reach the proper equalization voltage level.The result is that the electrolyte has not been equalized as it should have been.

Second, it does not appear that the "Reconditioning" feature does anything to reduce sulfation.Over the course of a day's time, the battery voltage continued to decline and there was no change at all in the specific gravity of the individual cells.

On the positive side, it does claim that it has an automatic shutoff feature, so perhaps I will keep it and use it for regular purposes.My old battery charger has no automatic shutoff and doesn't know how to float charge a battery, so it needed to be replaced anyway.

If you are not looking for an equalization charger, this is a good buy.But if you're one of those rare people with a hygrometer and a jug of distilled water looking to perform maintenance on a battery, this is not the product for you.

It is a great charger except for one deplorable thing!It has heavy plastic insulation on the cables and electrical cord!They are so stiff you would think it was crap from China, and that's just at 50 degrees F.I have no idea how much more contemptable they'll be when the weather REALLY gets COLD, when a person generally most often needs a charger.So if you want flexible cables get one with rubber insulation.......yeh right, like anyone nowadays bothers to tell you that or even mention the type of insulation.If it gives me problems at 25 degrees below F., I will probably swap them out with #3 or #4 welding cable, and if I do, they will will be 3 feet longer, to reach high up on my old tractors.
Had this charger the aforementioned excellent cable insulation, I would readily give it 5 Stars.This charger does not have all the bells and whistles, to go haywire, plain, simple, durable, and will hopefully last 20 plus years easily, as long as no dummy goes and touches/sparks the charging clamps together! (Knocks the sap out of and dramatically shortenes the life of the rectifier(s).
I hope someone at Associated reads and fixes this, until they do I will have to recommend Century brand made in Minnesota....it gets cold there, they know. One would want to make sure about the cable insulation first, though.
My Matco (made by them) lasted 28 years, with only 2 recifier replacements, now not to be had) Don't get me wrong, Associated is good American built product, it is just a shame they cut a corner. lssmonikeratyahoodotcom

(More customer reviews)I have several lead-acid batteries that I need to keep charged up; I heard about desulphating chargers, then found this one. I first used it on a 5-year-old car battery whose voltage indicated that it was at about 40% capacity.After following the directions (about 6 days of desulphating), the voltage jumped up to a point that indicated that the battery was now at 90%.

I have a friend who had been trickle charging his older car battery and felt that he had gotten it as fully charged as he could, but then I loaned him this charger and a week later got a phone message from him indicating surprise at how much his battery had improved. He was convinced! It's very possible to double a battery's life with this charger, and so it can pay for itself quickly.

The problems with this charger are the complexity and the poor documentation.I think you can see the all the lights and buttons on the front of it - somewhat bewildering to most.So you have to spend a lot of time reading the manual at first, and, I think, it could take a lot less time if they could find a competent technical writer. They KNOW their manual has problems because they added a supplement that says to ignore all the instructions in the manual and just read that one page supplement! The trouble is, even that supplement is a bit hard to understand.One example is how batteries are to treated as large, medium, or small, but they really don't tell you how to classify them. I had assumed a battery for a compact car would be considered medium, but a phone call to their support guy informed me that it was actually large.The manual just assumes that we can read their minds on things like this, but we can't, so we get confused and use the charger improperly.

It's been charging over 24 hours now and the charging light stays green, it doesn't change to red as mentioned in the manual.

When I attempted to use it, thinking the battery was fully charged ( Maybe it came completely charged that's why it was green all the time), it's actually the opposite, the battery is completely drained.
