American Hunter? 12V Multi-use Solar Charger Review

(More customer reviews)I ordered this item to use on my boat as a trickle charger for the 12v Battery.The item in the photo is in a plastic case and the photoappears to be the charger I have seen on other boats. That is why I placed the order. Unfortunately, I was shipped a different model in a metal casing -- which does not appear to be as weather proof. Rain and Saltwater appear to able to puddle and leak through seams in the corner. I doubt if the metal casing will be as corrosion resistant,durable, or as eco-friendly as the plastic unit pictured.

There were no instructions or specs provided for the unit. It is not clear how the mounting bracket should be installed.This unit may be fine indoors, in a car, or a dry environment.,but I doubt it will be found very durable in weather.

On the plus side,the unit appears to have more cell and may generate more amps than the unit photoed. Also, shipping was very, very, fast. Probably faster than anything I have ever ordered. In less than 4 days and it was at my front door.

(4 Cylinder engine).To test it, I disconnected the negative cable from the Escort battery.The IP-75 started it, but barely.When I brought my dad out to see a second demonstration, it failed.Conditions were ideal; 70 degrees in the shade on the driveway.It's probably fine for motorcycles, lawn mowers or ATV's, but it's not really enough for much more.It's only 7 Amp hours.I think 12 Amp hours is the minimum for confidence.

(More customer reviews)when you purchase something like this, you would want to have all the technical specifications IN ADVANCE so you are not surprised.... so this is what you would really get if order this one:
FeederMax#20578 12-volt solar charger.It is NOT the one pictured with the clips, but it does have a protective flex conduit around the cable.It is sold as a solar pannel (which it is of course) but what it is really made for is a very low power charger- specifically it is only 1.26Watts.... ya just can't do much with that.with no load on it, in bright sun it generates 20 volts (so be careful with small devices) but the box says max 18V.
So if you are a hunter and need a to charge something small for low use, this might be great, but other applications- not so much.

I liked this panel because it was one of the smallest panels that I could find that still put out a lot of power. I have not had to worry about dead batteries since I had the kit installed on my travel trailer. The panel really does get power even in overcast days. This kit comes with a 25 amp charge controller so I can add more panels to the system down the road without changing the regulator, although I don't think I need to at this time. The display shows the voltage of the batteries and current that the panel is putting into my batteries. All in all the kit does what it claimed to do and I am very satisfied with the system.

I think the epson salt would have been better used as fertilizer, and I wouldn't have wasted an entire afternoon following the included instructions. I would NOT recommend this to anyone. Go check the blogs... this 'recipe' has been around a long time, and the old adage remains...'if it sounds too good, it probably is. Don't waste yourtime.
I now have 6 new batteries and my cart is performing like/better than new.

We Own a local buisness that sells Used Golf Carts and have use a method to refurbish weak and poor preforming golf cart batteries. (More customer reviews)I am a very frequent battery user, and I have used nearly every battery technology out there. I saw this and thought it would be a great idea, seeing that standard rechargeable NiCd or NiMH batteries are only 1.2 volts, and if you let them sit for a couple weeks they eventually drain.
Plain and simple, it doesn't work. Great concept, but nearly every battery I put in it leaked the first time around. I've tried cheap batteries, name brand batteries, old, new, everything. The cheap batteries have about a 75% chance of leaking, and the name brand batteries are about 50% chance. Be careful, because they don't usually leak while charging, they leak a couple days after they are taken out of the charger. The charger is slow, usually taking a 1-3 days to charge the batteries, which is fine with me, because I always had a stockpile ready to go in after the next ones came out. Sometimes after charging was complete, the batteries were still dead. Other times the charge light never turned off I've run about 70 batteries through my charger, nearly all with the same result: acid, or still dead. Get some alkaline batteries that were designed to be recharged, that's what I've done. Don't fool around with this. I really wish it would have worked :(

SC-12000A SpeedCharge Battery Charger Review

(More customer reviews)I suggest you buy this locally where it can be returned if you are unhappy. When I called customer support all I got was questions about my batteries, none about the charger.

I have several batteries which all needed to be charged: 2 car, 1 motorcycle. The desulfation mode did not work as advertised. The charger neither recognized or desulfated. In the end, I resorted to using an old dumb charger to restore the batteries because the 12000A failed repeatedly, mostly with 'Aborted' status. The one time it did operate to a 'Charge Complete', the charge was weak and needed to be finished using my old dumb 12V-10Amp charger.

And regarding the 120 amp engine start mode, it is pretty useless. The charger will supply 5 seconds then do a 3 minute recovery. And as I found out during my usage, any portion of that 5 seconds activates the 3 minute recovery. So if you crank for 2-3 seconds, stop to spray starting fluid, then you have to wait 3 minutes before being allowed you next 5 seconds of starting.

This charger is advertised as smart, with the ability to recognize and treat sulfation. It did neither. But, on the other hand, customer service was able to say from 2000 miles away that the battery was sulfated. The battery has now been charged and is doing fine. I just used my 20 year old 12V-10Amp dumb charger.

I did quite a bit of research when I purchased my newest digital camera and batteries 6 months ago.The PowerEX batteries and chargers were reviewed quite highly and tested to be long lasting.The price was decent and much lower than I had paid 3 years ago for other rechargables.I figured that I didn't have too much to lose.

Well, six months later I am getting ready to buy more batteries for other items in the house.There were times that I loaded my fully charged batteries in my camera and took over 1000 flash pictures and still had a great charge on the batteries.They hold their charge for weeks and can be charged quickly if needed.

My son uses these in his game cube wireless controlers and gets days worth of playing time from them before needing a charge.

These are inexpensive, ship very quickly, and are a deal for twice the price.I can't imagine having to lug around regular batteries in my camera case ever again.And with PowerEX batteries, I won't have to.

Multiplex Charging

The XC's normal operating mode is called 'multiplex charging'. In this mode, it queries each bank every 15 seconds.
