American Hunter 12 Volt Solar Panel with Mount Review

American Hunter 12 Volt Solar Panel with Mount
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
when you purchase something like this, you would want to have all the technical specifications IN ADVANCE so you are not surprised.... so this is what you would really get if order this one:
FeederMax#20578 12-volt solar charger. It is NOT the one pictured with the clips, but it does have a protective flex conduit around the cable. It is sold as a solar pannel (which it is of course) but what it is really made for is a very low power charger- specifically it is only 1.26Watts.... ya just can't do much with that.with no load on it, in bright sun it generates 20 volts (so be careful with small devices) but the box says max 18V.
So if you are a hunter and need a to charge something small for low use, this might be great, but other applications- not so much.

Go Power! GP-RV-95 95-Watt Solar Kit with 25 Amp Digital Regulator Review

Go Power GP-RV-95 95-Watt Solar Kit with 25 Amp Digital Regulator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this Go Power! 95 watt solar kit from a local RV dealer early this year. I liked this panel because it was one of the smallest panels that I could find that still put out a lot of power. I have not had to worry about dead batteries since I had the kit installed on my travel trailer. The panel really does get power even in overcast days. This kit comes with a 25 amp charge controller so I can add more panels to the system down the road without changing the regulator, although I don't think I need to at this time. The display shows the voltage of the batteries and current that the panel is putting into my batteries. All in all the kit does what it claimed to do and I am very satisfied with the system.

Wagan EL2558 Solar eCharger Review

Wagan EL2558 Solar eCharger

I bought this solar charger last weekend. It did not take too much time to setup, however it did take quite long (about 4 hours) to get fully charged. Then, I used this charger to charge my cell phone without any difficulty. This made me feel good because it was the first time that I used green energy directly. Over all, it is well designed and easy to use. The case can be more slim and some switches can be combined, a little bit confusing though.

Solio Rocsta Hybrid Solar Charger (new) Review

Solio Rocsta Hybrid Solar Charger
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had an H1000 by the same company in the past and loved it until I lost it
during a camping trip. The only problem was that the H1000 did not have an
adapter for my iPhone.I tried purchasing another H1000, but realized that
it had been replaced by this new Rocsta. The funky yellow color is awesome
(it will hopefully help me from loosing this one, lol), it seems to charge a
bit more quickly then before (full day of sun charges it completely), and it
came with a tip for my iPhone 4 right in the box!Another cool thing is
that it also came with a light adapter tip. It's a cool little flashlight
that comes in handy while poking around in the tent and such. All in all,
I'm very happy with this solar charger.

I would have thought that it would charge more items. It would not charge a black berry curve or an iphone 3g. It does work well with my solar panel to charge the batteries or my ipod.

Be Prepared? AA Solar Charger Review

Be Prepared? AA Solar Charger
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This solar charger is one of the best configurations that I've come across. It managed to charge 4xAA batteries while sitting on my vehicle's dashboard during an overcast day. I figure that if it can pull a charge from the sun through both the clouds and the UV screen of the windshield glass while still being able to fold into something that is about wallet sized then it absolutley earns a place in my backpack.

There are a few things to note that aren't mentioned in the item description:
1. This only has four gromments, not six.
2. It is NOT waterproof/water resistant in any way. A single raindrop on the charging circuit will likely short it out.
3. The batteries can be a little difficult to pull out of the charger. You can't grip the battery by the sides and pull. I've always needed to use my fingernails or something like a key to pry them out.

All in all, I'd say this is the best options out there for keeping your AA flashlights, GPS, and other gizmos powered while enjoying the great outdoors.

AA Battery Solar Panel Charger Review

AA Battery Solar Panel Charger
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this charger in case of long term power outage (earthquake, ice storm, nuclear war, cap and trade-caused blackouts), with the intention of always having light by recharging AA batteries and using them in LED flashlights and lanterns.

I used this charger on Oct. 24 on a sunny day in central Illinois, on a pair of partially discharged NiMh 2400 maH batteries that read 1.2 volts. The charger brought them up to 1.36 volts quickly and showed them as fully charged.Impressed, I decided to purposely discharge a pair of AAs by running them in an incandescent flashlight. One battery read 0 volts and the other was at 1.0 volts and the filament of the bulb was just barely showing a red glow when I put them in the charger. The charger accurately diagnosed them as very low and started recharging them in a trickle mode. One trip to Walmart later, (1-2 hours total charge time) and both batteries were right at 1.36 V.I also ran a separate 4-pack of partially discharged batteries and they were charged fully in 1 hour.

Based on this small experience sample, I am very happy with this product, as it surpassed the charging times on the box on a sunny day, even in late fall, with the sun very low in the sky at mid-day.

I also feel the build quality of the product is high, based on first impressions only.

This charger is also very small, folding up into a box smaller and thinner than I expected. It also comes with a 4-pack of the excellent low-discharge Sanyo Eneloop batteries, which are a $8-10 dollar value.

It also has grommets to make it easy to use string or cord to affix it to a backpack or tie it down in windy conditions.I am planning on making a set of copper wire supports that can be used like tent stakes to hold this charger in place on flat ground or to prop it up to get true perpendicularity to the sun to maximize the energy capture.

In summary, I love this charger and highly recommend it.
