The rechargeable batteries in four of these recently purchased units do not provide their stated capacity. They have much lower capacity than their stated 900 mAh, and 3 of 8 batteries did not retain a charge even several days without use.

Instead of the Steripen-estimated 35 1-liter purification cycles per battery charge, I got 15.This battery capacity might continuously provide only 3 purified liters per day when solar charging.More details in the report at:

Product Description:
Designed for use with SteriPEN's Traveler and Adventurer handheld water purifiers, this device recharges two CR123 batteries (included) for the purifiers with either electric power or solar power. By using a 110V/240V adapter (included) and plugging into a wall socket, batteries recharge in 4-6 hours. If wall-socket power is unavailable, the case has solar panels that recharge batteries in 2-5 days, depending on time of year and latitude. Directions on the case explain how to orient the case's solar panels toward the sun. Weighing 7 ounces with batteries, the charging case accommodates a purifier in its molded-foam interior, making it convenient for travel. A soft carry pouch and a user's guide come with the charging case.
