Coast 7575 Rechargeable Flashlight Auto LED Review

I was looking for something to replace the cigarette lighters in my car.I don't smoke, so they serve no purpose.I even considered buying plastic caps from the dealer at fifteen dollars each.

Imagine my surprise when I came across this little beauty. The body is machined out of solid stainless steel, even the cap.Very high-end appearance, heft, and feel in the hand.

When placed in a cigarette lighter, it looks like it came from the factory that way. It replaces the existing lighter, and is inserted with the lens facing outward, away from the socket.

It is exactly the same diameter as the original lighters that came in my Lexus, and is low-profile enough to fit inside the closed ashtray. It does come with a metal ring that fits around it to make it a bit thicker for outlets that are larger, but that wasn't necessary for my application.

The cap twists to turn the light on or off, which keeps it from activating accidentally, but does require two hands. There are small holes drilled in a ring around the cap to allow light from the LED to show from the sides. It has a blue LED in it that lights softly when it is charging, and the small holes allow it to be easily seen from the sides. This works well for locating the light in a dark cabin.

The main LED is a white Nichia. They have a patented technology that makes the wire grid that covers the base of the LED clear, which allows up to twice the light output of a standard white LED.Note, however, that this is not a Luxeon or Cree LED, which are extraordinarily bright, but also use lots of current and would quickly drain the small battery in a device this size. The Photon Freedom Micro light also uses a Nichia LED, so that may give you a better idea of how bright it is if you are familiar with that one.

The lens is convex, like a magnifying glass, so the beam is bright, round, and has very little side spill. This is good for tasks that you might use it for in a car, like reading a map without lighting up the entire interior of the car and blinding the driver.

It is rechargeable, and according to the included instructions can be left in the outlet when not in use.

Mine just arrived today, and I've already ordered another one.Highly recommended.

Nu-Flare 77R92L Ultrabright Luxeon LED Aluminum Flashlight, Gumetal, 210 Lumens Review

The name/model of this flashlight is pretty impressive-sounding with all those numbers and letters, but I must admit, it functions as well as the photos and description show.I really wanted a flood-type light, and some were available (as it says in the description) from an 'overseas' source. And, I was dubious about buying from them. So, I opted for this one, and I'm not disappointed. For the flood characteristic of the spot-to-flood zoom, the light covers an entire wall from the distance of 'standing in a doorway of an average size (apt.) bedroom'.And, there's just a little loss of light (althouh there IS some) when you zoom-out to 'flood'. But, there's no black spot throughout the zooming range (unlike those old krypton zoom flashlights that took a decent spot, and simply diffused it beyond useability when you spread the light to a 'flood area'.) I have to say something negative, so I'll say that I wish it fit the hand a little better. I like the diameter of a Maglight, and this one is only the diameter of a CR123 battery. But at least it has a nice size lanyard that fits around the wrist to give you a more ceratin 'grip'. By the way, there are some Amazon merchants selling this item at around $40, and I recommend not going over that price...that's what I paid (with real inexpensive shipping added on).

Product Description:
Nu-Flare is one of the best quality compact flashlight using the 3rd generation Luxeon Rebel 90 LED from Silicon Valley (San Jose, California, USA). The new Rebel 90 has improved battery efficiency, generates less heat, and higher brightness than the Luxeon V. It has the tactical tail switch and a patented zoom focus from 1X to 4X. You should notice that this is the one of the first flashlight on market offer the zoom head. This one is small in very compact size. We saw one having a big head of 2 inches diameter. This is one of Best American Technology. Warning: There are some non-Luxeon made counterfeit 1W, 3W, and sometimes even claim 8 Watt LED on the market. They are half as bright at best and have a bluish color beam. Their light will be greatly reduced after just few hours of use due to poor quality and poor heatsink property. They are much cheaper but they are definitely not the quality of Luxeon. They are usually shipped out from Hong Kong. They are also subject to patent infringement problems. - Long battery life - 13 hours total (6 hours at maximum output). It will output less light after 6 hours but still fairly bright until it the batteries run out. - Accessory: Carrying Strap - Water resistant, very durable aluminum housing - Up to 50,000 hours LED life - Very well focus adjustable zoom beam (1x to 4x). It is very good for police work. Manufactured in ISO 9000 certified factory with latest CNC machines and Surface Mount Technology robotic equipments. Ultra high quality finish Patented design with patented US made Luxeon LED, it is not a cheap copycat version. Battery: 2 x CR123A Lithium batteries (2 Duracell batteries included), you can use rechargeable NiMH batteries or rechargeable Lithium Ion CR123A batteries. Weight: light weight 84.5g with batteries - Gunmetal Silver Color

I work in the firearms industry and am a avid competition shooter. I purchased the LD10 as my every day carry flashlight. I don't think the size and brightness can be beat. I wanted a small light with a pocket clip that could be worn pointed downwards. That way when drawn it is oriented correctly in my hand. Lots of things to like about the light but here are my two concerns regarding it's use as a tactical light and really they are both from the same issue.

When you depress the tail cap button the light locks to the on mode (beam of light), pressing the tail cap button again turns it off, pressing it a 3rd time puts it in strobe, pressing it a 4th time turns in off. Recently at a low light/no light handgun match this is what I experienced. I have many hours of muscle memory training where I pulse the light only when needed to shoot or search a room. I do not leave the light constant on as that would be a tactical mistake letting every bad guy in range know exactly where I was and what I was looking at. By pulsing the light it is very disorienting to any threats trying to track me. So the issue is using my flashlight technique I was not pulsing the light. What I was doing is turing it on, then turning it off, then putting it on strobe, etc. It just did not work for me and I was fighting the light on top of shooting. I still won the match so it was not a huge deal but I really don't feel like re-training my muscle memory on how to use this flashlight. On a related note because the button is not a mometary on when you accidently depress it while it's in your pocket it locks itself to the on or strobe position. Thus you might run down your batteries not knowing it, or at the very least create a bright spot through your pants which can be somewhat embarrassing.

Until I figure this out I am going back to my surefire flashlight.
