The Wellness Monitor. Review

The Wellness Monitor.
Average Reviews:

First, I'm unsure why other reviewers would give a product a low rating because they lost their Fitbit or whatever. Like any small electronic device or jewelry, you have to find out what works for you so as not to misplace it.

More important is the Fitbit itself. It's more than a glorified pedometer. It's convenient and I can have it with me 24/7. I can establish "activities" for the times I'm burning extra calories, but without much motion. Weight lifting is one example. Data from the Fitbit are wirelessly uploaded to my website account and, in my opinion, it's the website that makes the Fitbit worth the investment. Poke around the [...] website, which is free, and see for yourself what are the benefits to you.

What do I like about the Fitbit. It's a lot of fun to use and from Fitbit community it's clear many people become obsessed with using it; this writer included. I like that I've lost 33 pounds, learned where to adjust my diet to be more balanced and have a history of my waking and sleeping activities, plus more. As for cons, I don't have any. I do have concerns about loosing it and have taken steps (no pun) to keep it securely with me. Also, the rechargeable batter is not user replaceable and it won't last forever. Fitbit still hasn't published a battery replacement policy or cost even though they say they will.

I bought my Fitbit directly from the company and have had it with me for about 8 months now. My wife has had hers for about 6 months. Bottom line: I Love it and Never Am Without It. My wife too.

Product Description:
This device automatically tracks your daily movements and sleep cycles to help determine if you are getting enough exercise and sleep. Similar to NASA technology that monitors astronauts in space, the device's integrated accelerometer monitors the intensity and duration of movements, tracks steps taken and distance traveled, and calculates calories burned--even during activities that do not require walking. The sensor fits into the included wristband while you sleep and tracks tiny tremors in the wrist to determine how long it took you to fall asleep, how often you woke up, and how long you were actually asleep, not just lying in bed. When the device is within 15' of the charging station, it automatically uploads information to the manufacturer's website, where your readings are displayed on timelines and graphs. About the size of a USB flash drive, the wellness tracker clips to a belt or fits in a pocket. Includes Windows- and Mac-compatible software for uploading readings to the website. Operates for 10 days after a 1 1/2-hour charge.

Garmin Forerunner 101 Waterproof Running GPS Review

Garmin Forerunner 101 Waterproof Running GPS
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Garmin Forerunner 101 is exactly the same as the popular Forerunner 201, with a couple of small changes.Being the case, I won't review the actual product since everything that needs to be said about it's GPS features can be found in the reviews for the Forerunner 201.
The most notable difference with the 101 is that it uses 2 AAA batteries istead of being rechargeable like the 201. At first I thought this was a big detraction to buying it, but it's really not that bad.Battery life is decent, although not as high as with the 201, which gets up to 13 hours of use on a full charge. But if you're not a marathon runner and just run a few miles on your runs, this shouldn't matter much. The only hassle is having the batteries go dead during the middle of a run, which really sucks if you're into knowing exactly how far you've gone. You have to keep an eye on the battery life before going out. The batteries don't really effect the weigh or size of the product though.
The second major difference is that this unit does not interface with your PC.This also isn't too big of a problem because, currently, the Garmin software is really lacking.Hopefully they will improve on it with time, but the PC software is nowhere near as nice as it could be at this stage. You can view a graph of your altitude for your run, and graphs of your pace and speed, and that's about it.Otherwise the software is really crummy. You can't even zoom in on your map like you can with the actual unit.
If you're serious about running, I would highly suggest the Forerunner 201 over this product, mainly because the price difference is so negligible. You can find the 201 for only about $20 more than this model, and the extra money is well worth the rechargeability of the 201 and freedom from the batteries. But if you really can't afford the cost, you're not going to be hurting too much with the 101.

The Forerunner 101 is easy to use right out of the box and it delivers the benefits of GPS technology.
Although it lacks the rechargeable battery and PC connectivity features of the Forerunner 201, the 101 retains all of the other great features of the 201, at an even more affordable price. The Virtual Partner feature allows you to set your training goal by configuring your Virtual Partner's pace and workout distance. You'll get a graphic perspective of your performance by viewing your pace in relation to your Virtual Partner's pace, so you can always see at a glance if you're keeping up or falling behind.
Almost as important as the training device itself are the accessories to integrate it with your active lifestyle. If you're into cycling, the best way to keep an eye on your GPS while you ride is with a bike mount bracket that straps to the handlebars of your bike, motorcycle, or whatever you're traveling with for easy viewing.
Other Forerunner 101 features:

Mark specific locations, and then look-up and navigate to these points using an electronic map.
Amount of calories burned can be tracked and calculated over the course of a workout.
Lap history--such as lap time, lap distance, and average pace--can be stored for 5000 laps.
Performance data can be automatically archived and calculated to provide an accurate record.
Automated stopwatch provides auto-lap and auto-pause features.
Pace whistle sounds alert when you begin traveling slower or faster than your desired pace.
Time and distance whistles can be set to sound when you reach a specified duration or distance in your workout.

Auto Menu: Timer pauses when you stop running. Auto lap logs your performance over a predetermined distance.

History: Review training history by day or week.

Map: Navigate back to the start or to a stored location.

Virtual Partner: Set time, pace, and distance goals, and train with a "virtual partner."

Slendertone Unisex System Abs Toning Belt Review

Slendertone Unisex System Abs Toning Belt
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I know the way these products are advertised make you think that they will make a fat person thin, but they don't. It gave good ab definition, but left the layer of fat until i worked out. It did speed up the process giving better and quicker ab results than I normally do when I only work out after a good winter hibernation. Before I had a little roll by my lower abs that I could never get rid off and now it's gone. It didn't happen overnight, been using it regularly for the past 2 months. Really saw results after 3-4 weeks, but started working out daily after the second week of owning. Ab workouts also felt easier.
Other info you should know that I couldn't find much info on before buying... The gel pads (I found) do have to be replaced every 35-40 uses. It also really helps to shave the abdominal area where you are using the pads as it improves pad life and effectiveness. I remember someone saying that the charger plug is flimsy; I didn't find it to be flimsy at all. It uses a SATA type connector that you would find on a computer or hard drive.
I would like to find out from anyone if the connector works on the bicep tricep attatchment.

Whether you're a casual exerciser, a senior, a fitness enthusiast, or someone facing physical challenges, the Slendertone System Abs Toning Belt (unisex) can help you build a stronger core foundation. Simply follow the 30-day toning plan for 30 minutes, five times a week to develop your abdominal strength, muscle mass, and power. Slendertone uses clinically proven Electronic Muscle Stimulation (EMS) technology to firm, tone and strengthen your entire midsection. Signals are sent between the pads, engaging the nerves that control your muscles and causing them to contract naturally. It targets not just the muscles you can see, but also the muscles that are more difficult to reach with conventional exercise. The rectus abdominis (abs), obliques (which shape the waist) and the transversus abdominis are all activated. This last is the deepest of the abdominal muscles and wraps around the abdomen like a corset. It is essential for stability in the lower back region and is very difficult to reach with conventional exercise.
Used regularly (as little as 30 minutes a day) in conjunction with a healthy diet and some moderate exercise, you will notice results within four weeks. You can wear the Slendertone System belt when you just don't have time in your hectic schedule to hit the gym or go for a run, or wear it during your workout for added emphasis.
