It's completely automatic and can be left to keep the batteries in a perfect state of charge. I am using this to charge 3 banks. 2 8D's for starting /houselights etc and 1 bank that has 2 batteries with an isolator. This bank runs all the navigation and fishing electronics. I keep the generator running the 120v accessories including the 1240ssp charger.
So far it's been perfect for the job.
Installation was strsight forward.It took about an hour and worked immediatly. There is no percievable difference in performance hooked up to shore power at the dock or using with the gen-set at sea.
