(More customer reviews)This could have been the best little hand warmer on the market...but for some reason the folks who made it forgot what it was to be used for.

It works great, and that's the problem. you can stick it in your gloves, shoes etc.
but when the batteries (sealed batteries not replaceable) when they go dead....what are you gonna do for $34 price tag.

Well it came with a HOME AC wall charger....who is going to use it in the home.
It should have came with what most everyone bought it for...the outdoors, and came with a car charger, where it could be recharged on the go. Or even the option to stick in some fresh batteries.

So with the heavy snow storms just before christmas, and everything warm and cozy..the unit runs out of juice. I could have plugged it into my car lighter socket, but it only has the AC wall charger.....so i'm done for the day with this hand warmer.

(More customer reviews)Very weak heating -rapid battery use - maximum measured temperature with completely charged batteries was 101 degrees, inside a house, with the room temperature over 70 degrees, made with a Fluke thermocouple sensor.

A single turbo 5 minute session with fully charged batteries caused the battery life indicator to go from charged to "ok to continue using for a short time".

This turbo session keeps the heater on for 5 minutes, to get as hot as it can, which was 101 degrees at the hottest point on the case, measured throughout the heating process.

On the other hand, Sanyo Eneloop NiMH batteries as used in the heater are excellent.They remove an important negative feature of other rechargeable NiMH batteries, which is rapid self-discharge.Eneloops hold their charge well, and the 2000 mAh rating works out to a measured 1700-1800 mAh capacity uniformly across dozens of AA cells, which is better quality control than a lot of other brands of NiMH AA batteries.I have so far not had a defective cell, with over 100 cells, vs over 10% for another line of NiMH AA cells.
