CYMA CM.022 Electric Airsoft Rifle Review

CYMA CM.022 Electric Airsoft Rifle

This gun with the hi-cap mag you can empty it in mabye 2 min. I'd use it in battles in my backyard but my friends would waste ammo. I had a target and fired full-auto and ripped it to shreds. The hop up system with the graduating sight( ladder sight) can give you some good range even though for about 10 meters you need to aim higher. When I got it the ring for the sling on the stock fell off, but I dont care. The thing about my gun is when you try to fire semi-auto it wont let you so do a burst in full-auto then you can us semi-auto. The normal mag is fille by filling a tube you put over theport on the mag and take a ram rod and ram it in the mags. The manual doesn't tell you how to load the hi-cap mag so heres how you do it. First the lightest mag is the hi-cap, so infront of the port you see a lever (sort of) and u have to pull it up and over and you see it open up thats where you put the bbs. Next close that thing and you see a gear at the bottom when you put the mag in the gun you turn it many times(you turn it counter-clock wise) until you hear a load click (not a click that you hear every time you turn the gear). Then you're ready to go Rambo on somebody or a target.

Flashlight - PolyStinger? LED Light (w/ AC/DC Charger, 2 Holders) Black Review

Flashlight - PolyStinger? LED Light Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I come from a family of peace officers and firefighters and I've known the brand Streamlight as far back as I can remember. These lights are tough, durable and more importantly BRIGHT!My brother who is in police academy told me that his instructor requested the students to purchase this particular flashlight because of the strobe feature, which can be used for tactical entry as well as a temporary defense. (The experience of encountering a bright strobing light can cause dizziness and even nausea in some people.)At any rate, I purchased this light from Amazon.com and liked it so well that I decided to get one for myself. After some shopping around I did find this item at a local store (a plumbing supply company of all places) for $95 which only included one charger. Not a problem.

When the light is turned on it by default uses high intensity. If you keep the power button depressed, in about one second the intensity of the beam will start to decrease to "medium" and a "low" intensity. The strobe function is activated when the power button is rapidly pressed twice.Streamlight does offer a power button located on the "[...]" of the flashlight for power access for "over-handed" use, and is an optional feature.

The battery is considered fully charged after being charged for 12-14 hours...so it takes a while; however, the battery memory is not altered if the battery is not completely discharged regularly. This means that the life span of the battery charge is not diminished if the light sits in the charger for weeks at a time.I consider this a HUGE PLUS!

So, if you're on the fence about purchasing this flashlight, I can honestly say that you will not be disappointed in the performance of this Polystinger.I'm seriously considering getting another one for the car.

**And if you do decide to go with this unit, whatever you do, DO NOT LOOK INTO THE FLASHLIGHT while it is on!!! it is VERY bright!

eGear Dynamo 5 LED Light with Radio Review

eGear Dynamo 5 LED Light with Radio
Average Reviews:

This flashlight-cum-radio, etc., has all the bells and whicstles it says it does. Only two caveats: 1. There is no adapter cord included to plug into a regular wall socket to recharge it, and I still haven't been able to find one; 2. Five minutes of vigorous hand cranking will get you about 45 seconds of decent flash light OR radio. A nice project for the kids to keep them busy during the next hurricane maybe, but without batteries or a convenient way to charge it up beforehand it's usefulness is a toss up. Great idea, and I still keep mine handy, but I will really need to be in a desperate situation before it is worth the work to make it operate. It does come with an charge cord for a car cigarette lighter, so maybe it would be more useful there, until the battery gives out.

CygoLite TridenX 600 LED Li-Ion Xtra: Triple LED Bike Light with 5-hour Li-Ion Battery Review

CygoLite TridenX 600 LED Li-Ion Xtra: Triple LED Bike Light with 5-hour Li-Ion Battery
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have typically done all of my winter riding in the mornings, so I've never needed a light strong enough for me to really see by. After all, the sun would be up soon enough, so I just needed the little extra protection from sleepy drivers that was provided by my "flasher" style bike light. However, a few months ago, I started riding in the evenings a couple of times a week with a reasonably fast (18 - 20+ mph) recreational group out of a local bike shop. Time to look for a bike that I could actually use to navigate the streets by.

The first light I tried was a Niterider Tri-Newt that was on closeout. That was a great light...when it worked. The cable that connected the lamp housing to the battery would never seat very snugly, so the slightest jostling meant that I would lose my light (no electricity, no light - obviously). I tried a number of different mounting locations for the battery and a number of different ways of trying to ensure that the cable stayed attached. Nothing worked for an entire ride, so it went back to the retailer.

I checked some gear reviews at a cycling website, and it looked like the MityCross product from Cygolite was well-liked, so I decided to try the TridenX next. I'm done. This is my light for the next while until it dies. The battery claims seven hours on high, and I believe it. After my Tuesday night rideand its two hours of riding plus an hour or so of transition (getting to the shop, waiting for the group to assemble, riding home), I decided that I would leave the battery strapped to the bike and go out on Thursday without a recharge. It handled the task like a champ. After the end of the second ride, the battery indicator was still showing more than an hour left on the battery. Granted its still a new battery, but this was definitely a mark in its favor.

As for slinging lumens, nothing is perfect. You want most of the light concentrated ahead of you, but still with good lighting in the periphery. I personally think this is tough to do for a single light with sufficient light output to really see by. However, the TridenX was easily the equal or better to the TriNewt in this respect. It doesn't turn day into night, but even the ultra expensive bike lights don't do that. Mountain bikers who ride at night through twisty singletrack will still want a second or third light (helmet plus peripheral), but roadies like me can easily get by at fairly decent speeds with just this one light on the front.

Having used it for a month now, there are a few nits to pick, but nothing I'd hold against it from the overall rating:
1) Since the unit has three LEDs, I'd like to have the ability to set one of them to "flash", leaving the other two on.
2) Getting the unit into flash mode is harder than it needs to be. One of the top buttons should be for flash and one for full-on.
3) I'd like to have a second mounting kit in the box. I think that many people who buy a light at this price point are going to move it from bike to bike, so a second mounting kit would be a nice, thoughtful touch. These are available separately, though, so no complaints.

Beyond that, I don't have any issues with the light. Here is what I think it does well:
1) Light output and balance between spot and flood beam patterns. It's very well balanced from a roadie's perspective.
2) Light output. I haven't mentioned that one of my riding companions thought I was a motorcycle the first time I rode up to the group with it on. That's a big compliment.
3) Mounting. I'm not sure about the user who had mounting issues (maybe the light wasn't pushed into the mount until it snapped?). My light mounts very securely on both my road bike and my mountain bike.
4) Size. For all that it is a seven hour battery, the battery itself is generally compact and easy to strap onto the bike that doesn't interfere with something else (e.g., water bottle, brake/derailleur cables).

Highly recommended.

Streamlight 75516 Stinger XT HP Flashlight with 120V AC and 12V DC Chargers/Holders, Black Review

Streamlight 75516 Stinger XT HP Flashlight with 120V AC and 12V DC Chargers/Holders, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Stinger XT HP is rated at 40,000 peak candlepower and I must say that's pretty darn bright. In fact, it's brighter than a 6 D-cell Maglite that's almost the length of a walking stick...well maybe not that long, but you get the picture. The Stinger XT HP produces a strong focused beam (adjustable) that can be seen from far away, producing usable light to a distance of over 100m (~330ft). This allows the light to be used as a short-range spotlight for looking into a forest canopy, etc. The machined aluminum construction appears sturdy but the battery does rattle a little bit inside the casing. However, my major complaints with the light are its 1hr battery life and 30hr bulb life.
PROS
-Super bright
-Tough aluminum housing
-Water resistant (O-ring sealed tailcap)
-Compact
CONS
-Xenon bulb only lasts 30hrs
-Full battery charge ONLY lasts 1hr (10hrs to charge w/ SteadyCharger, 2.5hrs w/ FastCharger)
-On/Off switch located only on tailcap (I don't mind this, but some people might)

Bottom Line: If you want a tough, super bright AND compact flashlight, and you don't mind a short battery life, then the Stinger XT HP is for you.

Garmin Forerunner 405CX GPS Sport Watch with Heart Rate Monitor (Blue) Review

Garmin Forerunner 405CX GPS Sport Watch with Heart Rate Monitor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After using the Forerunner 305 for over two years, I decided to replace it with the 405cx and am very happy with my decision. But first let me address the main criticism of the 405cx and its predecessor the 405--the bevel and touch system.

Garmin is not Apple, so the bevel and touch are not on par with the scroll wheel on an Ipod or the touch on an iPod Touch--but they stillwork fine.Granted, if the bevel gets sweatyor I touch it withsweaty fingers (not something unexpected for an exercise watch) itbecomes nonresponsive until I wipe off thesweat. But this is not a big deal for me.When I run I simply use auto scroll, which is unaffected by moisture. And if I want to override auto scroll by using a manual touch, it takes only a second to wipe the sweat off the bezel or my fingers. So don't be discouraged from buying this unit based on the bevel and touch.

While the 305 is a great unit, here is why I like the 405cx better. Note: I use this on an Intel powered Macbook running the latest edition of Leopard without any problems.

1. Although the 405cx is as thick as the 305, it is noticeably smaller and lighter.

2. I like the wireless ANT technology that automatically transfers data rather than having to place the unit in a USB cradle as with the 305 (though doing so is not a big deal), and also effortlessly pairs with my heart rate monitor and foot pod (which must be purchased separately).

3. The 305 has no power save mode, and I inadvertently drained the battery a couple of times when I forgot to turn it off after running or put it in the charger. The 405cx not only has an automatic power save mode, but you can turn off the GPS when running indoors to further save power. With the GPS turned off, barely any power is used. Also, this ability to turn the GPS off makes it easier to use the footpod when running indoors (the 305 first has to search for a satellite signal before realizing you are indoors, and that can take several minutes).

4. I find the bevel and touch system on the 405cx much easier to use than the buttons on the 305 in order to change various features. But I like electronic gadgets, and as I said above, the sweat issue is not a big deal for me.

Here are some tips:

1.Rinse the unit, the heart rate monitor and the strap after each use with plain water.

2.Keep the unit in the charging clip after each use to ensure you always have enough power. A simple touch of the bevel will tell you the percentage of power left. The charging clip can be powered via a USB port on your computer or via an electric outlet using an AC adaptor. The included AC adaptor with the 405cx is very clunky; I use the Apple travel charger for the iPod instead. Make sure the charging clip is properly attached to the unit or you will drain the unit instead of charging it (already happened to me).3.Although the unit lists three training fields, there are actually four if you have the heart rate monitor--by default only the heart rate shows up in the first field, but you can modify that to include two additional data items.

4.Unlike the 305, where you can move forward and backward between data fields, the 405cx lets you move only forward. Therefore, when I run indoors I turn off my "outdoor only" data fields--grade, elevation, etc.--so that I don't waste time looking at them.

5.For a first time purchaser to whom cost is important, I would say getthe 305.My reasons for switching to the 305 may not be important to you.

6.Buy the new version of the footpod rather than the old version (I have reviewed both on Amazon) for running indoors.

7. I use a Mac software program called Ascent that I think is far superior to Garmin Connect and Garmin Training Center, and unlike the former does not require an internet connection to upload data.

Bottom Line: I have had this unit for three weeks and run over 100 miles both indoors on a treadmill and outdoors in all kinds of weather--light rain, cool nights, and hot humid days. I really like this unit. Due to the bevel and touch issues I would have rated it 4 ? stars if I could, but since there are no ? star ratings I gave it 5 stars despite those issues because for me they are negligible compared to the rich features on the 405cx. If you are a serious runner, you will love this unit.

Update July 22, 2009: I have now been using this for about six weeks and logged over 200 miles. In that time I have had the bevel lock up due to sweat only twice: once in the gym and once outside. The point is that this is even less of a problem than I thought, and should not discourage you from buying this unit.

A more serious issue is with the ANT technology. Sometimes I will get a message on my laptop that the transfer of data to the laptop from the 405cx was not successful. I then quit the Garmin Ant Agent on my laptop (and sometimes remove and reinsert the ANT USB stick as well), restart it, and have to go through this process three or four times before the data finally transfers to my laptop. The problem began after I updated the ANT software, and I see from Garmin forums that other users have experienced the same problem. Hopefully this is just a bug that Garmin will fix in a later update. While I would not let this discourage you from buying the 405cx, just keep in mind that a wireless transfer of data, while convenient, is not always problem free.

Update August 21, 2009: Garmin released an update for Macs (and I assume for PCs as well) that solved the download problems using the ANT technology. Now the data transfers work perfectly.

The more I use this watch, the better I like it. Here are my latest comments:

1. The backlight is far superior to that on the Forerunner 305. It produces a much brighter light that I appreciate when running at night either outdoors or on the treadmill at my gym (the treadmill area is kind of dim at night).

2. The battery life is excellent. Even with BOTH the backlight AND the GPS on for a couple of hours, battery capacity is still 75% when I am finished running. What this means as a practical matter is that if you forget to hook this watch up to the charger after a long run, you will still be good to go for your next run. The battery life per charge on the Forerunner 305 is not as good, and sometimes when I forgot to charge the 305 between runs, the battery would die during the second run.

3. The "sweat issue"--i.e. the watch becoming non-responsive when the bevel gets sweaty--has become a non-issue for me since I haven't experienced any problem in months. Perhaps that is because I periodically "towel off" the sweat on my wrist and forearm during a long run.

Update January 9, 2010: I continue to recommend this watch as the best GPS watch for serious runners. Using it this winter has been a pleasure. Here is why:

1. I have run in sub-freezing temperatures where the "real feel" with the wind has been as cold as zero. I keep this watch around the outside sleeve of my running jacket so the GPS function is not impeded (as it would be if the watch was covered up). The bitter cold has had no adverse effect of any kind so far.

2. When I take a break during my run at a local convenience store, the watch does not fog up when I go inside, and after I have warmed up, it does not fog up when I go back outside.

3. I have run in light snow, which I just shake off the watch periodically without any adverse effect (and I did not expect any, since I have run in light rain during warmer weather without any problems).

In short, this watch is performing great during a very cold winter in the Northeast.

Update May 24, 2010: I have been using this for almost a year, and it still works great. On a recent vacation to Mexico, the satellite signal was picked up quickly and without any problem, and the same was true when I returned home to New Jersey. Also, I ran outdoors in very hot and humid weather, and was drenched with sweat. It just took a couple of seconds to wipe it off the unit so that it would function properly. Here is a cleaning tip: At the end of each run I stop the timer, then touch the Time/Date at the top of the unit to switch to the time, and then lock the bezel before I rinse the watch off. I found that if I tried to lock the bezel while the unit was still on the exercise screen, sometimes I would accidentally restart the timer. But that doesn't happen if you switch to the Time/Date before locking the bezel.

I still believe that this is the best GPS watch on the market for serious runners.

Update June 27, 2010: The other day after I had finished running and transferring my data, I noticed that the time was wrong on my 405cx. I discovered that the screen had completely frozen, and nothing was responsive. I did some quick internet research and solved the problem as follows: I connected the 405cx to the charging clip, which I plugged directly into my PC instead of into my USB hub. Without touching the bevel, I simultaneously pushed in both buttons for about 30 seconds, after which the screen unfroze and the charging screen appeared. The watch has worked fine ever since. I have no idea what caused the problem, but in case it happens to someone else, I wanted to list what worked for me.

UpdateNovember4, 2010: I have now had this unit for over 16 months, during which I have run about 1600 miles indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather year round, and it still works great. I have a few miscellaneous tips:

1. I have seen some reviews complain about battery life. After a 2 1/2 hour run outdoors I still have 70% of my battery life. However,...Read more›

Coast 7575 Rechargeable Flashlight Auto LED Review

Coast 7575 Rechargeable Flashlight Auto LED
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was looking for something to replace the cigarette lighters in my car.I don't smoke, so they serve no purpose.I even considered buying plastic caps from the dealer at fifteen dollars each.

Imagine my surprise when I came across this little beauty. The body is machined out of solid stainless steel, even the cap.Very high-end appearance, heft, and feel in the hand.

When placed in a cigarette lighter, it looks like it came from the factory that way. It replaces the existing lighter, and is inserted with the lens facing outward, away from the socket.

It is exactly the same diameter as the original lighters that came in my Lexus, and is low-profile enough to fit inside the closed ashtray. It does come with a metal ring that fits around it to make it a bit thicker for outlets that are larger, but that wasn't necessary for my application.

The cap twists to turn the light on or off, which keeps it from activating accidentally, but does require two hands. There are small holes drilled in a ring around the cap to allow light from the LED to show from the sides. It has a blue LED in it that lights softly when it is charging, and the small holes allow it to be easily seen from the sides. This works well for locating the light in a dark cabin.

The main LED is a white Nichia. They have a patented technology that makes the wire grid that covers the base of the LED clear, which allows up to twice the light output of a standard white LED.Note, however, that this is not a Luxeon or Cree LED, which are extraordinarily bright, but also use lots of current and would quickly drain the small battery in a device this size. The Photon Freedom Micro light also uses a Nichia LED, so that may give you a better idea of how bright it is if you are familiar with that one.

The lens is convex, like a magnifying glass, so the beam is bright, round, and has very little side spill. This is good for tasks that you might use it for in a car, like reading a map without lighting up the entire interior of the car and blinding the driver.

It is rechargeable, and according to the included instructions can be left in the outlet when not in use.

Mine just arrived today, and I've already ordered another one.Highly recommended.

American Hunter? 12V Multi-use Solar Charger Review

American Hunter? 12V Multi-use Solar Charger
Average Reviews:

I ordered this item to use on my boat as a trickle charger for the 12v Battery. The item in the photo is in a plastic case and the photoappears to be the charger I have seen on other boats. That is why I placed the order. Unfortunately, I was shipped a different model in a metal casing -- which does not appear to be as weather proof. Rain and Saltwater appear to able to puddle and leak through seams in the corner. I doubt if the metal casing will be as corrosion resistant, durable, or as eco-friendly as the plastic unit pictured.

There were no instructions or specs provided for the unit. It is not clear how the mounting bracket should be installed. This unit may be fine indoors, in a car, or a dry environment.,but I doubt it will be found very durable in weather.

On the plus side, the unit appears to have more cell and may generate more amps than the unit photoed. Also, shipping was very, very, fast. Probably faster than anything I have ever ordered. In less than 4 days and it was at my front door.

This is the first time I've ever written a less than complimentary review. This time however I have to let folks know the extremely poor experience I had with the vendor during follow-up email tech discussions. My first complaint was with the instruction manual that obviously was written by someone with English as their third language.Very confusing and in some cases complete lack of ampifying information.Secondly there is no phone link with the company for tech support, email submission only.Nearly all email responses just referred me back to the instruction manual. Why didn't I just return the product?Believe me I regret not doing that especially after purchasing a Sunforce controller that works exceptionally well with simple, fully understandable instruction manual and "live" customer tech support. This is the second time I've submitted a review on this product. My first review generated an unsolicited email from the vendor asking if I would reconsider my review and gave me detailed instructions on how to revise/retract my review.Even those instructions didn't work.My first review was 3-stars, this one is 2-stars and the only reason it's not a 1-star is that the product works well, once you figure out on your own how it works.

Makita ML143 14.4-Volt Fluorescent Light Review

Makita ML143 14.4-Volt Fluorescent Light
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This light came free when I purchased the drill driver combo. It is much better than the incandesant light I received from another Makita promotion. It will light up an attic or crawl space with ease. Just rember to have an extra battery with you, it goes out with NO warning does not flicker or go dim, just out! How can you complain about something for nothing, you can't! Tough light too. I have dropped it got it wet and it has not stopped working yet. I can't even remember how long I have had it and I have never changed the bulb. Look for drill/driver kits, this light is always free. If not 42 dollars light, 85 dollars battery 127 dollars? Drill/driver kit, two tools, two batteries, light and charger with a case. All for around two hundred dollars.
Free equals junk right, NOT with this light. I love it and use it all the time.

Freeplay Energy Eyemax WB 2009 Self-Sufficient AM/FM/Weatherband Radio, iPod/mp3 dock and LED Flashlight (Black) Review

Freeplay Energy Eyemax WB 2009 Self-Sufficient AM/FM/Weatherband Radio, iPod/mp3 dock and LED Flashlight

We purchased this radio after trying the CC Observer, probably its closest contender.I wanted a crank-type emergency radio with weather band that I would want to use everyday at home or work.

The CC Observer had great reception for AM and FM, but the sound was tinny and when the volume was increased, the speaker distorted much quicker than I thought it should. These were not deal breakers, though. However, what was a deal breaker were the non-adjustable weather station settings, as the one we received was slightly mistuned and gave us a very distorted, but solid, reception.C Crane told me to return it and that there was no way to adjust that setting.

Not wanting to take a risk on another, we bought this radio. When it came in, I immediately raised the antenna and a portion of the antenna popped off, along with two copper contacts.I put them back together and more gently pulled and again it came off.So I put it back together and left it alone, trying the other functions.

The crank is solid and seems to give a good return on energy spent. If you read other reviews, it is this crank mechanism that people think is best about Freeplay items--it has the highest efficiency of energy conversion and it is the most durable of any available. The Freeplay website says you can get one hour of radio from one minute of winding, and I have achieved almost double this at half full volume with one minute of very fast (and hard) winding (160+ turns in one minute).

It has a fully adjustable, separate dial for weather, that easily received our station clearly, despite the initial antenna problem.Likewise, AM and FM came through strongly, but with less discrimination of stations than the CC Observer had (there was more bleed through of adjacent stations with the Freeplay Eyemax WB 2009).Also, there was more noticeable drift just before the battery died than with the CC Observer. That said, all stations sounded much better with the WB 2009 and the speaker didn't distort anything like the CC Observer did, probably because the speaker is fairly larger in the Eyemax.Additionally, reception was similar, but not as good, as the CC Observer on both AM and FM.I had no trouble getting an AM station from 250 miles away, but it had a bit added noise, despite physically turning the radio to its best reception.

There is a button on the back that immediately makes the weather tuner override the AM/FM tuner.Since these are tuned separately (as with the CC Observer), you immediately are returned to the AM/FM station you were listening to when pressing the button again. Both companies seem to have considered the convenience of the listener.

The flashlight puts out a meager light, but it works and you can read from it.Bizarrely, you turn it on by pressing the bulb.

There is no handle for the radio, in part, because they have a solar cell on top that would be blocked. The solar cell does work and helps make the radio last longer, but it's not providing the sort of current the crank can.I would much rather have a strap or handle or at least the option to put one there. This could be a deal-breaker for some, as winding the radio is more difficult. It's probably best for people with smaller hands to crank this pressing down on the radio at the edge of a table.

The dials for volume and the AM/FM tuner seem to turn the opposite way from what I would expect.Turning the tuner dial upward makes the tuner selector go downward. This is probably just a quirk of style, but it catches you.

I don't like that there is no headphone jack, but there are ports for an inbound mini-USB connection and another for an external charger. The former port allows one to hook up their cell phone or iPod to play music on this radio, using it as an external speaker.Although I know some people would use this, I think a much more practical thing would be a simple headphone jack for an emergency radio. After all, if someone is trying to minimize power usage on the radio under conditions which will otherwise require a lot of cranking, a headphone would cut out the need to power the relatively large speaker. Also, it would allow usage in situations in which audible sound may not be useful, as when others are sleeping. This is something the CC Observer did right.Fortunately, the sound is reasonable enough that you'd feel okay with playing it for a room at work or home all the time.

You are probably wondering what we did with the radio, since it arrived defective.Well, I called Freeplay to get a replacement antenna and they said they would immediately send a replacement radio instead RMAing the one I had.I agreed to do this, as my time with this defective unit was more than enough to let me feel comfortable that the replacement would properly work for my location. One thing I miss is that the CC Observer had a cell phone charger, but it appeared other people had found their own issues with that when looking at reviews.I guess I'll look for something separate to complement the Eyemax.

Both radios are good units, but the Freeplay Eyemax WB 2009 won me over based on sound quality.

If you are looking for a portable cordless spotlight this is the light I would recommend. The light has a very powerful bright high beam that looks like a projected beam of light. I have purchased almost every light on the market and I continue to purchase this model over & over again. I use this model on the job every day and found this model the best buy and most powerful. As with all of these type of lights, they have a battery life of about 20 minutes on full power. The two LED side lights work for hours. The best feature on this model is the plug in recharger built into the back of the light. Recharging two ways, just plug it into a 120 volt electrical cord or plugged into a DC car lighter. The weight balance is good and handles well.
