(More customer reviews)The name/model of this flashlight is pretty impressive-sounding with all those numbers and letters, but I must admit, it functions as well as the photos and description show.I really wanted a flood-type light, and some were available (as it says in the description) from an 'overseas' source.And, I was dubious about buying from them.So, I opted for this one, and I'm not disappointed. For the flood characteristic of the spot-to-flood zoom, the light covers an entire wall from the distance of 'standing in a doorway of an average size (apt.) bedroom'.And, there's just a little loss of light (althouh there IS some) when you zoom-out to 'flood'. But, there's no black spot throughout the zooming range (unlike those old krypton zoom flashlights that took a decent spot, and simply diffused it beyond useability when you spread the light to a 'flood area'.) I have to say something negative, so I'll say that I wish it fit the hand a little better. I like the diameter of a Maglight, and this one is only the diameter of a CR123 battery. But at least it has a nice size lanyard that fits around the wrist to give you a more ceratin 'grip'. By the way, there are some Amazon merchants selling this item at around $40, and I recommend not going over that price...that's what I paid (with real inexpensive shipping added on).

(More customer reviews)After researching various lights suitable for nighttime road use, I purchased the MityCross because of its light weight, bright beam, and lithium-ion battery (for cold weather and fast charging).I have had this light mounted on my handlebars for about 3 months now, and this is a huge step up from my previous 1W LED light.

The light is well constructed, using a thick handlebar mount, and a durable metal housing around the light, and the battery has a thick Velcro strap to attach it to the front stem.The size is astounding; the light is slightly larger than a golf ball, while the battery is about the size of an iPhone folded lengthwise.The light also comes with a helmet mount, which costs extra on many other light systems.The charger can be used in 110V or 220V outlets, which is a plus if you go overseas, and is very fast compared to NiMH chargers.

There are 6 modes, which are separately grouped into (high, medium, low) and (flashing, walking, SOS).Simply pressing the power button will start the light in high mode, with repeated presses cycling through medium, low, then high again and so on.The light can be started in flashing mode by holding down the power button for a few seconds and releasing, when the light is off, and can be cycled to walking and SOS, then back to flashing by pressing the button.There is also a three-LED battery gauge which "blinks" more slowly as the battery is drained.

Rated battery life for each mode: High=3.5hrs, Medium=5hrs, Low=17hrs,Flashing=50hrs, Walking=100hrs, SOS=100hrs.

The beam pattern is rather wide (compared to cheap LED lights), which is optimal for mountain biking.I would have preferred a more narrow and brighter beam for road use, but it does light up the pavement 100-200 feet in front as well as signs from thousands of feet away!
I prefer to use the "medium" setting at night, as it is rated for 5 hours, which means I only have to charge it once a week, and it still puts out a ton of light.In the daytime, I usually go with one of the two strobe options that are available for visibility.

I have not had any issues with this light while riding in rain or snow (not waterproof see UPDATE1), or when it was -10F outside.The light and battery are well sealed.

The only weirdness with this light is that it will automatically turn on in high mode when you plug in the battery, so you have to remember to turn it off.Otherwise, the light will stay on until the battery is drained.Also, when the battery is almost dead, the light will begin to flash on and off uncontrollably, which was not documented in the instructions.

Overall, this light is a terrific value in its class, if you are doing nighttime on or off road riding often, consider this light as it is a high-quality product that should last for many years.

UPDATE1: After three months of use, I have found that water can seep into the light through the button on top, which was causing the light to function sporadically.The light is completely sealed by rubber gaskets except for along the button and at the battery plug.I pulled out the button for a day, let the headlight dry, and now it works fine again, so I have put a large piece of clear packaging tape across the button so that water cannot get in through there.

UPDATE2: After nine months, the battery would no longer charge (the LED light on the charger was orange, a mix of red and green alternating rapidly).Fortunately, Cygolite allowed me to return the light system for repair and replaced the battery free under the one-year warranty (sent it in on a Friday and got it back the next Tuesday).The new battery looks the same except for having a different logo, so maybe it's better.I was very pleased with their excellent customer support, and will buy more of their products in the future.

UPDATE3: Announced August 1st 2010, Cygolite will be offering the Mitycross 400 and 320 for the 2011 year (price TBD), which I suspect will replace the respective Mitycross 350 and 300 models very soon.They will offer the same 3.5/17 hours high/low battery life, and have the same 240g system weight.

I just survived the Blizzard of 2010 in Washington DC with no electricity for three days. This lantern was charged up and ready to go before the storm, and was able to get us through the three days of power outage with about 3 -5 hours per night of judicious use. This lantern works best if hung above eye level as the LED light is probably too bright for most people.However, this lantern gives off sufficient light for reading at night with no eye strain.This is a huge plus when the only entertainment during a blizzard with no electricity is a good book!I used night light, lo and hi settings, and I found that there was significant changes in illumination from setting to setting. The power cable and car charging unit can be stored inside of the lantern base. I leave mine plugged into the wall outlet for on-demand lighting when needed. I particularly like the car charger capability, although I have not yet had occasion to use it. Overall, great product for the intended use of emergency lighting in the home or light for the campsite.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this flashlight for my dad and it just arrived.It features a newer technology battery, NiMH, over the older style Ni-Cad.I have 4 Mag-chargers now and love the durability. I thought I was purchasing the complete system when I read it runs off AC as well as DC.The description says it includes the DC adapter or power cord.This is true.What it doesn't say is it DOESN'T include the AC adapter.I guess that is what got the price down, but it would have been nice if it spelled this out.I have two extra AC adapters & charging cradles, so this isn't a problem, but not everyone will be in this position. So if you want to be able to charge it at home or at the office, keep looking.Oh yes, one more thing.I spent many years in retail and this flashlight and charger have been out of the package. Don't know if it was a return, refurbished, or what.So the price was good, shipping was free, but the accessory description was not clear and it may or may not actually be "new".

Streamlight 74300 Strion LED Flashlight without Charger, Black Review

(More customer reviews)This one replaces my first strion with the xenon bulb.New is the roll proof designed head, tail cap push button switch vs twist or press and hold to turn on, 5.3 inch for the xenon and 5.9 led, and of course led bulb.

The good, this thing has a very bright white light with no hint of that nasty blue.The anti roll design should save some blood pressure frustration points.

The bad, it's slightly bigger than the xenon, .6 inch per their website.The switch is rubber covered which may later break down after contact with oily substances.

The ugly, it's beam is not adjustable.

Even tho it's a little longer, you're still getting a lot of light out of a small deal.

The rubber switch cover, I can't say how good it'll hold up.

My xenon started giving me problems after being dropped multiple times.Since the switch had a push for momentary on feature, the battery contacts developed little dents which would cause it to not turn on.I'd have to take the battery out, twist 90 deg, reassemble and try again.The led model has this hi med lo strobe feature in the switch.Seems a bit fancy, and more stuff which could break.I don't know what purpose the strobe provides, unless you know someone with epilepsy you want to see in seizure, ya kno, just for kicks.

Chances are good I wouldn't have bought it had I known it has a non adjustable beam.I tried to find a brick and mortar that had one on the shelf so I could put my hands on it first, but failed to find one.Time will tell...

Update 7/24/10.
After a couple months of use, the differences between the two are further apparent.You wouldn't think .6 inch as significant, but that much more causes it to fall out of my shirt pocket.Even though it's been dropped several times, it hasn't failed me yet.

Even though battery life on the xenon was never a big issue, the led has never gone dull on me.The xenon would get hot if left on too long, the led doesn't.Every once in a while, when I snap it into the charger at the end of the day, I'll not have it in correctly.That's when the xenon would be weak if I needed it early the next day.Not an issue with the led.

The hi med lo feature has been helpful, in my case, for reading a steel embossed tag hi is too bright and reflects light back at me so I can't read the info.High is super bright and lights up a dark area very well.

The antiroll head works great.Set it down, it stays where you want it.The only thing different I would have designed into it would be to make the antiroll flat spots different heights.That way you could set it down to tilt up at different heights.

(More customer reviews)I loved this little device!I'm a baseball fan and used this on nearly a daily basis, since April, carrying it from room to room in the evenings.I'd wind up my radio, pull up a chair and let the scene unfold before me as told though the poetic musings of Vin Scully and his beloved Dodgers, each broadcast the elocutionary equivalent of a Norman Rockwell masterpiece.

Last night, after 4 months of solid use, the plastic handle of the charging crank snapped right off.I wasn't turning the crank particularly hard.I don't suppose this device was engineered for as regular use as I put it through.It's probably perfect as a storeaway for emergenices type use.In any case It's cheap enough that I won't hesitate in buying another.

One other small reservation, and again it would only seem to be an issue in the case of heavy use:The plastic body casing seemed to regularly buckle ever so slightly during cranking, so much so that I figured the case might eventually crack open due to wear before anything else would go wrong.Also when gripping the unit for cranking it's difficult not to mash (and turn) the control dials during the act of cranking.On my unit the light switch seems to be spring loaded and switches and locks itself into the on and off positions.It was very common for the light to activate due to incidental squeeze pressure during cranking, then the switch failing to 'catch' when pressing the button to turn off, leaving the light stuck on 'on', only turning off finally after multiple forceful presses.

Again I never expected to enjoy this little gadget as much as I did.As a kid, another L.A. radio icon, Dr. Demento would open each show with his signature schtick: "Wind up your radios boys and girls...!".I never had a wind up radio until now.

(More customer reviews)I had a Power Wheels toy for my girls when they were 2 and 4.Now that my son was turning 4, I didn't want him driving around in a pink Barbie Jeep.

I went and bought the Ground Force but it is significantly faster - the Power Wheels tops out at 5mph (but also allows you to lock the speed to a max of 2.5mph), whereas the Ground Force has a max speed of 12mph.

I must say though, that I (a 40 year old man who weighs 165 pounds) LOVE this thing...It was fast, nimble and my neighbors got used to seeing me drive around the neighborhood.But, ahem, where was I? Oh yes, back to the kids.

My 6 and 9 year old daughters love this car since it is significantly faster than their old Power Wheel car.I was even able to take my 6 year old out with it when I went roller blading and she was able to keep up with me and then some (we went out for about an hour (so figure we went about 8-10 miles since we weren't going the full hour.

That being said, it is way too fast for my 4 year old...and even my 6 year old who knows how to drive was doing a series of figure 8's in the street at max speed and loving it...when she lost control and ran full speed into the curb...she was NOT a happy camper, although she wasn't seriously hurt.

The car does sit low though...so if a child were to run under an SUV...there is a very real chance the child could be seriously hurt though because their face would smack into the bumper...so PLEASE be mindful.

I allowed our friend's daughter who was 5 to drive the car in an very open field and she loved it...but ended up losing control as well and running into a play structure. She hurt hurt herself and broke the seatbelt because she panicked and went full speed into the structure...she wasn't seriously hurt...but I have definitely re-thought my stance about letting ANY child under 8 or 9 drive the cart by themselves.

Because there is no way to lock out the max speed...the children should be very carefully supervised.I do drive my 4 year old in my lap (and even drove him to pre-school one day in the morning (which he loved btw).Of course, I did look a bit stupid driving home in this go kart in the morning near the school...but my son was VERY excited! ;)

Please please be careful with this car with young children.

This one puts out a a poor amount of light. It also does not retain its charge well.You will have to shake it frequently to keep it charged.

I would say it is one of the worst ones I purchased.

The first time he used it in the field the metal cracked then the gun basically broke in half.My son was soooo upset and worried he was at fault, we had the gun repaired at a local store. They said they had never had anything like that on a full metal gun and that we should have had the manufacturer repair it but the wait was going to be long and my son would have been without.Since then we have had to repair several other parts and it has been very costly. I don't know if the manufacturer would have made good but we are disapointed in the quality.

Some of us are into things that well, quite honestly, do not interest everyone.However, if you happen to have an interest in, enjoy, or need "quality" Flashlight products as I do, here is some information that you may perhaps find useful.The Streamlight Stinger C4 DS LED Rechargeable Flashlight is one of -if not- the best Flashlight Lighting Product of its type, in current times.After owning a business that included selling "Quality" Lighting Products of several Brand Names, to Safety Forces, Outdoors People, Military personnel and other Flashlight Geeks for the past 18 years, (and just recently retired) this unit by Streamlight hits the mark.Its three (3) intensity Brightness settings work well. Its strobing capability make it a useful Weapons/Defense light to allow those extra seconds to evade or take action against an Attacker.It has two Switches (Top & Rear), a non-slip Rubberized Tube/Handle, anti-roll Hex-Rubber Cover for the Lens if you desire, Perfect Beam, a variety of Charger Types (Single, Double, Piggy-Back, Hard Wired, AC/DC, etc.).Its LED Beam is a perfect solid circle that shines far, and does not "cut-off" as many other HID/LED type devices do.The Battery for this model still utilizes NiCad vs. Lithium Ion - this is both a plus and minus.The NiCad's provide "high current on demand", will let you know the Battery needs a charge via dimming light output, and there is too much mis-information regarding their so called "memory" problem.
